The goal of the 2003/2004 campaign is $360,000. They talked about why their corporations support United Way and how it is a win-win op portunity for everyone. United Way touches the lives of all of us in some way, the speakers emphasized, through family, friends, neighbors or work as sociates. Because no one can anticipate when they, or some one they know, may need help from a United Way funded or ganization, everyone was en couraged to join in supporting United Way and the many or ganizations they help fund. To illustrate that every dollar counts, the example used was that if 100 people give $2 a month - just $24 a year - it would add up to $2400 toward the goal. Lots of small dona tions add up to become a much larger donation. The lunch was sponsored by Arm strong W orld Industries, Boise Paper Solutions, Coastal St. Helens Chemical and Geor gia Pacific. Pacific Chamber Singers concert The Pacific University Chamber Singers and Wind Ensemble will present their first concert of the 2003-2004 sea son on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7.00 p.m. in McCready Hall at the Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center at Pacific University. The Chamber Singers, un der the direction of Dr. Scott Tuomi, will perform selections from Brahms Op. 104 secular choruses and the Latin Motets of Maurice Duruflé. Other se lections will include Sleep by noted contemporary composer Eric Whitacre, as well as folk songs and spirituals.
