Student transfer denied In a unanimous decision, the board upheld the superinten dent’s denial of an inter-district student transfer. Last month Ann Turner ap pealed the superintendent’s de cision to deny an inter-district transfer for her daughter to the Beaverton School of Fine Arts. anks School According to Turner, this is an elite magnet school with high academic and artistic require ments. Students must earn ad mission through a process that includes an essay, an interview and a performance. District policy says, “The board recognizes there may be circum stances that arise in which a resident student may benefit from attendance in an other public school in the state.” Further, the policy indi cates that the superintendent can approve a transfer based on a “financial, educational, safety or health condition af fecting the student would likely be improved as a result of the NUMBER ONE WORLDWIDE M S 4 4 0 M a g n u m ™ One of the world's largest selling professional saws. Board members Gene Kelly, Joe Evers, and Lundsten unanimously approved the mo tion. Code of Conduct The board discussed the rules for discipline on school buses. Additions to the rules were necessary due to provi sions of the No Child Left Be hind Act.
