Pag» 14 The INDEPENDENT, June 19, 2003 Puncochar fam ily pleases Dad on Father’s Day at River City Speedway in St. Helens By Mike Weber For the Puncochar family of Hillsboro, they celebrated Fa thers Day a little early while posting two Columbia County Racing Association main event wins Saturday at River City Speedway in St. Helens. Tricia "Great" Brittain of St. Helens, notched her first top-five finish this year in the Longview Napa sportsman series. Joe Lires of St. Helens, won his first ever mini stock main as he led all the way with his McMullen Wa ter System s/Allen Gutters sponsored Toyota Celica. St. Helens drivers Jeremy Martin (seventh), Rudy Chap- pelle (ninth) and Dan Smith (10th) of Scappoose each had top-10 finishes in the Reser's Fine Foods modified class. Portland's Marc Sayre notched his first ever series win, while leading the main event from start-to-finish with his Ascend Elevator/Plainview Auto spon sored modified Ford racer. Scott Puncochar and his sis ter, Kari, who both lead their re spective division standings, were nearly unbeatable as they combined for four wins, much to the delight of their father, Ralph Puncochar. Kelso's Paula Timmons was two car lengths back in second, fol lowed by Graham and Bobbi Harris of Battleground. Kerry Smith of Scappoose, posted her third consecutive top-five (fifth), she captured a heat race win with her Alliance Automo tive Buick Regal and moved into second place in the divi sion standings.
