The Vernonia High School will hold their 30 year reunion on July 26 at Lew’s. For more information, call Robb Wilson at 503-429-7731. Rachael Diane Bentsen has been chosen as the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen from Ver nonia High School. The DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The contest consists of a question on how the candidate has tried to manifest the quali ties of a good citizen, a copy of their official grade transcript and two letters of recommen dation, one from a close adult associate who is not a family member and one from a school faculty member. An essay on “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserv ing It” must be written under the supervision of a faculty or DAR member and completed within two hours, without reference materials. She is active in Vernonia Pride, Juvenile Diabetes fundraisers, Teens for Christ, O.S.S.O.M., Drama Club, Inter national Club, and the National Honor Society. She is also Stu dent Body Foreign Exchange Representative, was Junior Class Secretary/Treasurer, and Cadet teacher in a Kinder garten class. Bentsen received awards for Best Actress in her Sophomore and Junior years, and Best Supporting Actress this year. She is planning to attend the University of Oregon in the Fall. T-Shirt design contest still open for 2003 Jamboree theme prize The Jamboree Committee has extended the deadline for the Jamboree T-Shirt Design Contest to June 16. The con test is open to all. Submit a pic ture including the theme “The Best Little Town in America” and "47th Annual.” The design can have up to three colors and the rest is up to the imagina tion. Anything from free-hand drawing to camera-ready art is acceptable. The winning entry will receive a $50 USNB Savings Bond.
