The INDEPENDENT, March 20, 2003 The 7th Annual OSU Colum bia County Master Gardeners’ Garden Fair and Plant Sale will be held Saturday, April 26, at St. Helens High School Com mons, 2375 Gable Road, from 9:00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. As in past years, Master Gardeners will be selling toma to plants for $1 each. They plan to have all of the standard fa vorites, as well as several heir loom varieties. The tomatoes are being grown this year by Nelson’s Nursery in Warren and Shafts Farm in Scappoose. There will be booths with ed- ucational information on grow ing roses, fuchsias, rhododen drons, wildflowers, peonies, and, of course, tomatoes. Mas ter Gardeners will be staffing a plant clinic to answer all gar dening questions. Raffle tickets are on sale for $1 each. Prizes include a gar den cart, hose cart, pruners, sprayers, gloves, planters, bird houses and more. In addition, gift certificates from area nurs eries will be awarded. Many local vendors will have booths at the Fair, including Blue Heron Herbery, Tide Creek Nursery, Nelson’s Nurs ery, St. Helens Nursery, Shafts Farm, Happy Hollow Garden, Shooting Star Lavender Farm, St. Helens Book Shop, Meowie Wowie, Sheepy Hollow Crafts, Jerry’s Workshop, Gifts from the Heart, Blue Moon, Apple of My Eye, Scappoose Garden Club and Heaven on Earth Farms. If you have spare change, a photographic student at Maryl- hurst is interested in helping us preserve our many precious photos. He can donate time and access to equipment, but approximately $500 is needed for supplies, paper, etc. Anyone who wants to help with this project should mark their dona tion for "Photo preservation.” The next business meeting of the museum association will be April 9 at 7:00 p.m. Work days at the museum are scheduled for March 22, April 19 and April 26. New members are welcome. It makes no difference whether you are an old-timer, or new to the community. If you enjoy blending the past and the pres ent, stop in and see what’s go ing on.
