We have rain again, but I hope no elephants follow, just snow in the mountains. The Christmas Bazaars are over. The “Senior Moments” was, again, well received. We wish to thank the other ladies who had tables at the center. It was a busy time, and friendly. Cozy Tatman won the nativity set and Carol Davis had the lucky number for the pansy quilt. We have lots of interesting items in the shop, but you have to come in and search them out. Possibly by the time this article is in print, the Christmas dinner will be over or it will be too late to sign up for it, De cember 20, noon time. If you missed the baked salmon din ner, Rosie says the Tuesday/ Thursday gals are fixing the turkey dinner on the 23rd at noon. So, come in. The Senior Center wishes to let the folks of Vernonia know, this includes all businesses, too, that have supported us with donations, participation, as well as many many donated hours, your friendships and helpful suggestions help to make us a better member of the community. Thank you. We are sorry for the screw-ups in the delivery of our bread de partment in November and we hope it won't show up again. Boy Scouts will pick up and dispose of Christmas trees Boy Scout Troop 860 will be picking up Christmas trees for disposal in order to earn funds for needed camping equip ment. A suggested donation of $5.00 per tree would be greatly appreciated. Those interested in having their tree picked up by the scouts are asked to call Jim Waters at 503-429-8006 to make arrangements. Cassidy Ann McLaughlin Cassidy Ann McLaughlin was born Dec. 13, 2002, to Jessica Soderback and Deric McLaugh lin of Vernonia. She weighed 9 lbs, 12 oz, and was 19 inches. Grandparents are Don and Jennifer Soderback, and Gor don and Marsha McLaughlin, all of Vernonia. Keegan James Hyde Keegan James Hyde was born Nov. 24, 2002, to James and Jackie Hyde of Waco, Texas. He weighed 8 lbs, 2 oz, and was 21-1/2 inches long. Grandparents are Joe and Susan Hult, and great-grand parents Jim and Janet Hult, all of Vernonia, and William and Carol Box of Kansas City, Mo. It was natural because I had so many Jriends here. I love the sense o f not being surrounded by anything but sky and clouds when I look out my window, and I love all the oak trees. Time goes fast here. There is always something to do or a good book I need to read. I enjoy the people, the activities and the lively conversations. I still volunteer at Valley A rt and play bridge with the same group I ’ve played with fo r years. We all know everyone else’s kids. A n d I ’m still active with my church’s women’s fel lowship.
