You may not aware of it, but you’ve seen Jeanne Warren’s paintings many times - not the original oils, but the reproduc tions of Keiko leaping from the water, with the Yaquina Head lighthouse or the Yaquina Bay bridge in the background. Or you may have seen the prints and stamps of her work, perhaps “Struck Silver,” a paint ing of a beautiful coho salmon and an angler, that was chosen by the Northwest Steelheaders for their Art/Print competition in 1994. Or one of her other prize winning paintings, like those selected by Washington Wild Trout and Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, both in 1995. This year she placed in the top 20 in a competition by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foun dation, a remarkable feat for a self-taught artist. Warren was born and raised in Newport and has been draw ing as long as she can remem ber. She received her first set of oils in 1988 as a gift from her mother, who was a hobby painter. She and her family - hus band Tony Farmer, who is from the Scappoose area, and teenagers Daniel, Jeff and Al isha - moved to Vernonia re- cently. Jeanne has taught oil paint ing in other locations and plans (Not Shown) 72RH1 W ood S to re • 2962 5 lotalina in (ornatu? •16126 St Stork in Porttoni!
