Rinck has graduated from the U.S. Army Warrant Of fice Candidate School (WOCS) at Fort Rucker, Daleville, Ala., and has been appointed to the rank of warrant officer one. Rinck earned distinction as an honor graduate of the in tense six-week course conduct ed in a rigorous, high-stress en vironment. He received training and experience in leadership skills, Army customs, doctrine, tradition and tactics, drill and ceremonies, professional ethics, physical training, time- stress-people management skills, and a variety of other mil itary academic subjects. Warrant officers continue to further their training through technical and tactical certifica tion. As the officers gain pro gressive levels of expertise and leadership, they operate, main tain, administer and manage equipment, support activities or technical systems throughout their Army career. Rinck is the son of Virginia A. Tinling of Hillsboro and Thomas J. Rinck of Buxton. He is a 1993 graduate of Hillsboro High School. J. P. Allison Jeremy Brennan J. P. Allison has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Jeremy Brennan has gradu ated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He will have 30 weeks of specialized training as an Avionics Technician. He will re main at Lackland AFB for the initial technical training, then will complete his instruction at Shephard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas. He will be working to ward a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. As an Avionics Technician, he will be working on the navi gation and weapons systems for the Stealth and B1B bombers. Allison is a 2002 graduate of Vernonia High School and the son of John Allison and Jana Basden of Vernonia. He is currently training at Shephard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, to be come an Electrician. He will have 8-12 weeks of instruction, including fundamentals of elec tricity, electrical circuit trou bleshooting, safety procedures and techniques for wiring switches, outlets and junction boxes. He will be learning to read blueprints and wiring plans and to inspect electrical power dis tribution systems. Brennan is the son of Gary and Gail Brennan of Vernonia and a 2002 graduate of Ver nonia High School. Aaron Stewart Aaron Stewart has graduat ed from basic training at the Recruit Naval Command at Great Lakes, Illinois. He is now stationed in San Antonio, Texas, at Lackland Air Force Base for training in law enforcement, weapons and anti-terrorism protection. Upon completion of his training, he will become a Master at Arms. Masters at Arms are the Naval Military Police. They pro vide specialists who assist in maintaining good order and discipline, law enforcement, and physical security duties onboard Navy ships and base commands. Stewart is the son of Mac and Jeanine Stewart of Ver nonia and a 2002 graduate of Vernonia High School. Rallies will be held in the courtyard of the Performing Arts Center on the Sylvania Campus from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the CC Building in the upper mall; at Rock Creek and Cascade campuses from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students have teamed up with several groups, including the Oregon Youth Vote, to pro vide voter information at the campuses. Each campus willl create its own distinctive style for the district wide event, such as Hispanic food and music at Rock Creek, the student de bate team and red, white and blue cupcakes at Sylvania, and apple pie and hot dogs (includ ing veggie dogs) at Cascade. Even Uncle Sam will be on hand, encouraging people to exercise their right to vote. “We hope to get 1,000 stu dents participating,” said Jesse Lohrke, student body president of Rock Creek Campus. In addition, student leaders have coorindated with the Ore gon Bus Project, a progressive minded group that uses a tour bus to engage voters. The bus will travel from campus to cam pus during the daylong rally, first arriving at Sylvania Cam pus at 10:00 a.m. and depart ing at 10:45 for the Cascade Campus. The bus will be at Cascade for 45 minutes, then depart for the Rock Creek Campus at noon. The bus will leave Rock Creek at 3:00 p.m. “One of the main goals of the bus project is to involve more young people and students in politics,” said Amanda Mort lock, campus coordinator of the Oregon Bus Project. “We are happy to support the get- out-the-vote effort at PCC and at college campuses across the state.” She encourages stu dents to get on the bus on Oc tober 8 and ride along to PCC’s campuses.
