W ITTEN HA G EN Myrtle M ay W ittenhagen, 87, H ills boro, died March 29, 2002. Funeral services were held April 3 at Donelson, Sew ell and M athew s, w ith Pastors Bruce Rumsch and Tim Hueber, o f Trin ity Lutheran C hurch, officiating Inter ment w as in Valley M em orial Park M au soleum Mrs. W ittenhagen w as born March 24, 1916, in W inner, S.D., to Evert L. and May R oher Altig. She grew up in Winner. In 1947, she m oved to the Portland area and w as purcha sing agent for the household and kitchen departm ent at M eier and Frank in Port land. In 1949, she married Herbert W it tenhagen. They lived in M itchell, S.D., then returned to Portland. They lived in Beaverton and Cooper M ountain and m oved to W est Union in 1960. Mrs. W ittenhagen m oved to H ills boro in 1988. She was a m em ber of the Hillsboro Lady Elks, the W est Union W om en’s C lub and the Lutheran W om en’s Group. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; a son, Terry Cook; and two brothers, C lifford and Vern. Survivors include two sons, Gerald Cook of Hillsboro, and Darild Cook of Tacoma, Wash.; a daughter, Denice Marks of Pescadero, Calif.; 15 grand children; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elm er Altig of Vernonia, and Bill Altig of Portland; a sister, Joanne Thomas of Tigard; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Boyer was bom A ugust 8, 1939, in Ashland, to M aurice and Trilma E. Powers W oodson. She lived in Ver nonia, w here she attended eighth through eleventh grades. She lived in Hayden, Idaho, and moved to Carson City. Survivors include her father, Brad ford Russom of Hayden; a son, Randy F use lie r of Jo urda nton , Texas; a daughter, Beth Gonzales of Vinton, Calif.; a sister, Yvonne S. Hjelm of Lewiston, Idaho; six grandchildren. FitzH enry’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangem ents. R O BER T B. STEPHENSON R obert Baker Stephenson, 80, Ocean Park, Wash., died March 31, 2002. A mem orial service was held April 6 at Penttila’s Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach, Wash. Mr. Stephenson was born Novem ber 14, 1921, in Toledo, to Langley and M aude Hall Stephenson. He m oved to Vernonia as a child. The family also lived in Portland, Camas, Wash., Alas ka and W arrenton. He graduated from W arrenton High School. During World War II, he m oved to Portland and worked for Oregon Motor Stages (now Greyhound Bus Line). In 1943, he married Dorothy Wray. They lived in Portland until 1951, when they m oved to Kennewick, Wash. In 1958, they returned to Portland and he w orked as service engineer for Sunnen Products Co. He retired as an auto m a ch in is t from G ray’s A uto m o tive in Tigard. In 1985, they moved to Ocean Park. He w as a m em ber of M asonic Lodge #46 A.F. & A M. of Portland. Mr. Stephenson was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Roten; two brothers; and a sister. Survivors include his wife; a daugh ter, Martha W illiam s of Omaha, Neb.; a son, Rockne of Clackamas; a sister, M elba Jam es of Portland; five grand children; 7 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Graveside services were April 9 in Evergreen M em orial Park, McMinnville, with Pas tor M arvin Schrom, of North Plains C hristian Church, officiating. Mr. Tschanz was bom Novem ber 23, 1919, in Portland, to Christian and Elizabeth Keller Tschanz. He grew up in M ou nta ind ale and graduated from Banks High School. In 1952, he married Gladys G ra ham. They lived in North Plains and m oved to Forest Grove in 1955. He w orked in area canneries. EDLIN L. PETERSON Edlin Leonard Peterson, 83, died March 21, 2002. Burial was in W illa mette National Cem etery in Portland. Mr. Peterson was born September 11, 1918, in Mist, to Edlin O. and Gladys Smith Peterson. He grew up in St. Helens. He attended Oregon State College (now OSU) and joined the U.S. Arm y Air Corps in 1941. He was dis charged in 1945. In 1947, he married Ramona Hud dleston. He and his brother, Jack, operated a meat processing plant in St. Helens. In 1952, he moved to Corvallis, where he owned and operated a refrigeration business. He retired in 1982. Mr. Peterson was a member of the Corvallis Am erican Legion Post, C or vallis Elks Lodge and Morning Star Grange. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Karen Rudd of Arkansas, Janet Binning of Silverton, and Cynthia H agenauer of Salem; a sister, Helen M inter of California; a brother, Jack of Keizer; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two nieces. PATRICIA F. CROWSTON Patricia Faye Crowston, 56, Van couver, Wash., died April 11, 2002. Fu neral services were held April 15 at the Christian Church in Vernonia, with Pas tor John Cahill, o f the First Baptist Church in Vernonia, officiating. Inter m ent was at Vernonia Memorial Cem e tery in Vernonia. Mrs. Crowston was born June 20, 1945, in Durham, N. Carolina, to Ray mond G. and Herlene Thrasher Robert son. She grew up in Vernonia and grad uated from Vernonia High School in 1963. In 1965, she married Marvin C row ston. They lived in Corvallis and Albany until 1968, when they moved to Van couver, Washington. Private inurnm ent will be at W illam ette National Cem etery in Portland. Mr. Percifield was born Novem ber 10, 1949, in Glendale, Calif., to Robert Lee and Sari W alker Percifield. He grew up in California and attended col lege in San Diego. He served in the U.S. Arm y from 1967 until 1970. He re ceived the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service M edal and the Vietnam Cam paign Medal. Mrs. Pope was born June 7, 1926, in Ethel, W ashington. She graduated from O nalaska (W ash.) High School. She m oved to Portland in 1944. She w orked fo r K a is e r s h ip ya rd s and Jantzen Knitting Mills. In 1946, she m arried R obert F. Pope. They m oved to Jewell in 1982. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kathy Jones of Hillsboro, and Teresa Southard of W est Linn; three grandchildren; tw o great-grand children.
