A funeral service was held Ja nu ary 10 in G ladstone C hristian C hurch. Interm ent was in N orth C em e tery of C lear C reek, near Vernonia. Mr. H errin w as born Nov. 5, 1908, in Sum rall, M iss., to Calvin and Luann Kervin Herrin. He grew up in Sum rall. In 1931, he m arried Bessie M. Spof ford. T hey lived in Vernonia, C orvallis and M ollala. T hey m oved to Oregon City in 1959. He w orked fo r O regon-A m erican Lum ber Co. in Vernonia from 1925 to 1944, then w orked in Portland until re tiring in 1983. Mr. Herrin w as a m em ber o f G lad stone C hristian C hurch. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1985; a sister, tw o brothers, and a daughter. Survivors include tw o daughters, Shirley M. M arkham and Sharon V. A funer al service was held January 17 in the C hurch of Jesus C hrist of Latter-day Saints Bull M ountain W ard in Tigard. Mr. Davis w as born D ecem ber 18, 1940, in W asco, Calif., and m oved to Vernonia as a teenager. He graduated from Vernonia High School and served in the U S. M arine Corps. In 1962, he m arried Rita Carlson. He m oved to Forest G rove in 1963 and to Tigard around 1991. He owned Mr. C him ney for about 22 years, retiring in 2001. He w as a m em ber of the C hurch o f Jesus C hrist of Latter-day Saints Bull M ountain W ard in Tigard. Mrs. Fosdick w as born O ctober 22, 1922, to Harry and Hattie Brett Lazott. She grew up on a farm in Buxton. In 1965, she m arried Al Fosdick. Survivors include her husband; one son. C liff M cKinney; tw o daughters, Pam Tye and Janice Linder; five step children, Ardel, David, Ruth, Joe and Arlene; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. M C LA U G H LIN R odger Alvin M cLaughlin, 46, G as ton, died January 19, 2002. A m em orial service w as held January 24 at the Ver nonia First C hristian C hurch, w ith Pas tor Joel Stith officiating. Interm ent was at Forest View C em etery in Forest Grove. Mr. M cLaughlin w as b om D ecem ber 15, 1955, in H illsboro. He grew up in Cornelius. He joined the U.S. Army in 1974 and was discharged in 1976. He was a long haul tru ck driver, w orked for Knappton tugboat service, clam m ed in Kenai, A laska, and w orked for the Tillam ook park service. In 1987, he married Gayle Hunter. They lived in Tillamook, w here they ow ned and operated M cLaughlin Adult C are Home for eight years. In 2001, they m oved to Gaston. He was a m em ber of the Tillamook, C herry Grove and Sherw ood Gun Clubs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas, in 1987. Survivors include his wife; a son, G avan of Ft. Bliss, Texas; his m other and stepfather, Alethea and Jess G ra ham; and tw o brothers, his twin, R an dall, and Gordon, all of Vernonia. H ENDERSON George Arthur Henderson, 84, H ills boro, died January 17, 2002. Funeral se rvice s w ere held Ja n u a ry 21 at Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove, with Teri Foster, Hazel Hanson and Twila Krigbaum officiating. G raveside services were held at the Nehalem Cemetery. Mr. Henderson was born July 16, 1917, in N ehalem , to George A. and Hattie VanDolah Henderson. He grew up in N ehalem . He served in the M erchant Marine during W orld W ar II as a chief electri cian on board ship, from 1941 to 1945. In 1949, he married Dolores Berg strom. They lived in several logging com m unities throughout N orthern C ali fornia until 1963, when they settled in Redding, Calif. Mr. H enderson w orked in the tim ber industry in N orthern California, N orth w est O regon and Colorado. He worked as a m illw right for a sawm ill in Arcata, Calif., until retiring in the m id-1970’s. In 1995, he m oved to Vernonia and in 1996 to Hillsboro. He was a m em ber of the Gold M iners Association and Vet erans of Foreign Wars. He w as preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Johnny; and two sis ters, Kathleen Bostick and Esther Wal- dien. Survivors include four daughters, Susan M inger and Marilyn Landers of Vernonia, Kathie H uster of San Fran cisco, Calif., and Judy Pieren of H ills boro; a brother, M ilton of Sacram ento, Calif.; four sisters, Florence Breedlove of M edford, Phyllis Schw egler of Sacra m ento, Calif., Laura W ood of Marion, and Janice Love of Roseville, Calif.; eight grandchildren; four great-grand children; nieces and nephews. RAINBOLT W illiam Arnold “Bill” Rainbolt, 81, Vernonia, died January 17, 2002. Pri vate interm ent was held. Mr. R ainbolt was bom D ecem ber 2 3 ,1 9 2 0 , in Loveland, Colo., to W illiam M. and Jew ell G. Richards Rainbolt. He grew up in North Hollywood, Calif., and graduated from North Hollywood High School. He later m oved to Coquille. In 1958, he m arried B arbara J. Ham blen. They lived in Coos Bay until 1959, w hen they m oved to Vernonia. He w orked as a log truck driver for C herry C reek Logging C om pany in C o quille , W e ye rh ae use r in C oos Bay, C o o s Bay L og ging in P ow ers and Crown Zellerbach, from 1959 to 1978, when he retired. He was a m em ber of the Sherw ood Elks Lodge. Mr. Rainbolt was preceded in death by a son, W illiam A. Jr.; and three sis ters, Shirley Andrews, June Dunsmore and Lois Wright. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jam es A. of California, Thom as D. of Hillsboro, and Donald L. of Ver nonia; two daughters, Kathleen J. M c Murray of Dayton, Wash., and Patricia J. Mrs. Fisher was born December 20, 1928, in Buxton, to Ivan and Florence King. She grew up in Portland and at tended C om m erce High School. In 1950, she married Carl Fisher. She was a hom em aker and w orked as a cook for about 10 years. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Julie Harris of Salem; four sons, Patrick, David and Michael, all of Milwaukee, and Tom of Gresham; a sis ter, Pearl Lillie of Portland; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchil dren. NAOMI A. LEDFORD Naomi Alm a Ledford, 69, Buxton, died January 30, 2002. Funeral ser vices were held February 2 at Forest Grove M em orial Chapel with Pastor Steven Gallaher, of the Buxton Assem bly of God Church, officiating. Inter m ent was at Buxton Cemetery. Mrs. Ledford was born October 18, 1932, in Hillsboro, to Edward and Alma Shearer G ribner She grew up on the fam ily farm in Banks and graduated from Banks High School. In 1950, she married W alter Lee Peace. T hey lived in Scofield until 1964, when they m oved to Banks. They later divorced. In 1979, she married W ayman J. Ledford. They lived in Banks until m ov ing to Buxton in 1989. She w orked for Birds Eye Cannery and Gray & Co. in Forest Grove. She retired in 1997. Mrs. Ledford was a silversmith and a m usician. She was a m em ber of the Buxton Assem bly of God Church and the Tualatin Valley Rock and Gem Club. H arry E dw ard Dailey, Sr., 74, Prineville, died January 23, 2002. S er vices were held at Prineville Funeral Home. Disposition was by crem ation. Mr. Dailey was born July 13, 1927, in Beach, N.D., to Edward and Flo rence Percell Dailey. He grew up in Quincy, Calif, and m oved to Forest Grove in 1967. He served in the U.S. Arm y from 1945 to 1947. In 1970, he married Lea Ola Jen nings. They lived in Banks. Mr. Dailey was a carpenter and worked at Rodgers Instrum ents in H ills boro. He retired in 1989. He was a m em ber of the C hurch of Jesus C hrist of Latter-day Saints. Mr. Dailey was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Som mer; and a sister, Shirley Gonza.
