Indoor baseball camp scheduled C olum bia C ounty Slough Cats Adult Baseball Club has partnered with Genesis Sports in Rainier to host an indoor baseball camp, March 2-3. The two-day camp will pro vide youth with an opportunity to learn baseball skills and fun damentals in an exciting, com petitive environm ent. Slough Cat players and coaches will cover base running, hitting, throw ing, pitching, catching and fielding, as well as proper warm -up and stretching rou tines for injury prevention. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-18, with 7-12 year-olds attending the morn ing session. Youth from 13 to 18 will be scheduled for the af ternoon. The cost is $45, which in cludes snacks, prizes and a cam p T-shirt. Brochures are available at Genesis Sports in Rainier, Main Street Pizza in Scappoose, or Fultano’s Pizza in Clatskanie. The Vernonia Youth Athletic Association is sponsoring Ver nonia Youth Baseball/Softball for the 2002 season. Signups will take place on Wednesday, February 20, at the Washington Grade School cafeteria from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Signup sheets will be distrib uted around town for those who wish to get an early start. This year, team/age levels are as follows: T-ball/6-8; B oys-G irls/9-10,11-12, and 13- 14 American/National. Volunteers are needed for coaching, working on fields, selling concessions and help with fundraising.
