Page 6 The INDEPENDENT, November 21, 2001 i — — ——- Ssnior Nows Sy Jacqueline Ramsay Senior Center Problems? Really!! Take a good look at the pic ture. Are you the person who dropped (dumped) it off on Sat urday, November 10? The police were called, pic tures were taken, papers with names found in the mess are in the hands of the police. The “garbage” and unusable items that were sorted out from this “donation” filled our dumpster, so there was no room for the Center’s refuse. By the way, whoever put their papers, etc., in the dumpster, the same weekend, you left your name on a letter. The public transfer station was “OPEN” on this par ticular Saturday. Please - for what is good and usable, we say thank you. BUT, two senior ladies spent three hours Sunday afternoon wearing rubber gloves, clean ing and gleaning your thought lessness. The children’s toys (filthy and covered with barn dirt and rat doo) are still sitting in the rain waiting for someone to help us clean them up so they can be recycled into the store area. So are all the chains, good, but filthy. The books were unusable because of dirt, musty mildew and rat smell. Sorry, dumped. As a used-product resale outlet, we need clean, “usable” items. We have no facilities to wash, mend or repair items and we do not wish to be known as a junk store. True, I do take home some . -11111 ____ x: * a , - i 4? « : .. -:.-WM#» ’, - » > : >:■ .
