SUTTON Clyde Leroy Sutton, 78, LaGrande, died July 2, 2001, at the Oregon Veter ans Hospital in The Dalles. A memorial service was held July 7 at Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Vernonia, with Mr. Sutton’s sons-in-law, Jerry Bruce and Jerry Hayes, officiating. Interment was at Vernonia Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Sutton was born August 23, 1922, in Thornton, Idaho, to LeRoy and Eunice H. (Clark) Sutton. He was raised in Bums and graduated from Burns High School in 1940. He served in the United States Navy for four years during World War II, receiving his discharge in 1946. In 1946, he married Lurley A. Sass. They lived in Vernonia and he worked at Oregon-American Mill until 1958. He later worked for Kaiser in St. Helens until 1961, then went to work for Tek tronix in Beaverton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry L.; and a sister, Leah Mills. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra Bruce of Gresham; and Sherry Hays of LaGrande; two sis ters, Adaline Walker of Hillsboro; and Madge Herman of Portland; two grand children; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A funeral was held July 7 in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes. Interment was in Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Mrs. Hensler was born January 21, 1911, in Sandpoint, Idaho, and was raised in Coeur d'Alene. Her maiden name was Dale. During World War II, she moved to Portland and later lived in Vernonia and Clatskanie. She was a housekeeper for the Clatskanie Hotel. In the 1970s, she returned to Coeur d’Alene and in 2000 moved to Port land. In 1931, she married Amison “Jesse” Hensler. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965. Survivors include a son, Howard; daughters. Donna Anderson; Shirley King; Doris Baldwin; Sharon Wilson; and Beverly Knapp; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to the American Cancer Society. MaBELLE C. McCORNACK MaBelle Clarice McComack, 69, Al buquerque, N.M., died June 20, 2001. A memorial service was held July 13 on the Jenkins Estate in Aloha. Mrs. McCornack was bom October 8, 1931, in Harrisburg to Ruth and Stanton Culp. She moved to Banks in 1960. She was a self-employed book keeper. In 1962, she married Jim Mc Cornack; he died in 1999. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Cutlip of Forest Grove, Debra Cheyne of Sherwood, and Penny Mc Cornack of Lake Oswego; a son, Pat of Novato, Calif.; her father, of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; brothers, Dick Culp of Bainbridge Island, Bob Neketin of Springfield, and Gene Neketin of Red mond; three grandchildren. HAMMOND Kay Frances Hammond, 56, St. He lens, died July 5, 2001. A funeral was held at Columbia Funeral Home. Burial was in Yankton Hillcrest Cemetery. Mrs. Hammond was born May 18, 1945, in St. Helens, to Guy and Tina Luttrell. She grew up in St. Helens and graduated from St. Helens High School in 1964. In 1965, she married Jerry Ham mond. They lived in St. Helens, Idaho and Spokane, Wash., and returned to St. Helens last November. She was a driver for ColCo Transportation in Scappoose. Survivors include her husband; her mother of St. Helens; brothers, Bryant Luttrell of St. Helens Bob Luttrell of Jewell, and Troy Luttrell of McMinnville; nieces and nephews. EDWIN A. KRIEGER Edwin A. Krieger, 75, Forest Grove, died July 10, 2001. A vigil prayer ser vice was held July 12 at Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove. Lodge rites, under the direction of the Forest Grove Elks Lodge #2440, fol lowed. Mass was celebrated July 13 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Forest Grove, with Father Elwin Schwab, cel ebrant. Burial rites and interment were at Visitation Cemetery in Verboort, with flag honor presentation under the di rection of the American Legion Wash ington Post #2. Mr. Krieger was born July 26, 1925, in Forest Grove to John and Anna Krieger, and was raised in Verboort. In 1943, he joined the Army and served in the Second Parachute Training Regi ment during World War II. In 1946, he married Ruth Keeler. He worked for Convoy Co. as a painter and truck mechanic. He was a member of the Forest Grove Elks Lodge #2440 for 25 years. He was preceded in death by tour brothers, Julius, Francis, Vincent and Ernie; and two sisters, Marie Giesbers and Loretta LaVoe. Survivors include his wife; sons, Al lan of Gales Creek, and Gary of Forest Grove; daughters, Sharon Robinson of Hillsboro, and Diana Waterstreet of Forest Grove; a brother, Norbert of Banks; 12 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
