The nomination form is available on the world wide web at www.solv.org The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Oregon State will receive ap proximately $513,300 in cost- share funds for a new program called Soil and Water Conser vation Assistance (SWCA). This program is a result of the Agricultural Risk Protection Act of 2000. SWCA is a voluntary oppor tunity for farmers that provides cost-share and incentive pay ments to address threats to soil, water and related natural resources, including grazing land, wetland and wildlife habi tat. Funds can only be used for conservation projects outside of the fiscal year 2001 Geo graphical Priority Areas for the Environmental Quality Incen tives Program. SWCA contracts range from five to ten years. The total pay ment per participant shall not exceed $50,000, with cost- share for land management practices limited to $10,000 per contract. The federal cost- share will be 75 percent of eli gible practices. Landowners who want to participate in SWCA this year need to sign up for SWCA prior to the close of business on July 13, 2001. A ranking cut-off date of July 31, 2001 was estab lished to ensure the obligation of funds by October 1, 2001.
