Page 16 The INDEPENDENT, February 21, 2001 Final week for display of student art work at state Capitol A selection of student art work from 25 schools through out Oregon is included in “Transformations”, an exhibit currently featured in the State Capitol gallery in Salem. The exhibit was organized by the Oregon Arts Commission. “This exhibit demonstrates the incredible use of the arts to support learning across the curriculum,” said Kathleen Davis, of Medford, commission vice-chair. “A great deal of evi- dence shows us that the partic ipation of student in schools with strong arts programs im proves the chance for overall student success.” Artwork was selected from elementary, middle and high schools across the state. Fea tured works represent a wide variety of student expression and art experiences, including architecture, mask making, photography, painting, draw ing, wood collage and mixed LOW CO ST C A R LO A N S media.
