Nearly every business, the schools and many area homes have alarm systems that may require a police re sponse, according to the City’s police department. Banks School Disrrict Superintendent Marilyn McGlasson and the principals of the grade, junior high and high schools have re viewed and endorsed the ordi nance. The ordinance sets up a graduated system of fines that may be imposed if a false alarm causes the police de partment to be called repeated ly to the same place. The ordi nance would allow one false ing students and the general public on Saturday, September 23 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event will provide an opportunity for new and return ing students to purchase their books, register for classes, contact the business office, seek academic advice and fi nancial aid information, tour the campus and show friends and family the Rock Creek Campus. Many campus de partments will have information booths and others will open their facilities for visitors to ex plore. Workshops on financing education and career explo ration will be offered, as well as other activities for all ages throughout the day. The entertainment schedule will include such acts as the Jazztones, DanTB'loon (Bal loon Man), a rock wall, cour tesy of the Portland Rock Gym, alarm annually at no charge to the user.
