anks ’’Race for Kids” will benefit Emanuel Children’s Hospital
On July 8, the quarter mile
dirt track of the Sunset Speed
way in Banks will hold the sec
ond Annual “Race for Kids”
benefit for Legacy Emanuel
Children’s Hospital.
The great night of family en-
tertainment is a cooperative ef
fort to raise money to help ben
efit special kids, and has been
assembled by Dick Weishan
and Krista Hamilton of W.W.
Motorsports, Darlene Atwood,
Cary Rolfe of KUPL 98.7 Coun-
try Radio, Legacy Emanuel
Children’s Hospital, and the
Sunset Speedway manage
ment.
Last year’s contributions
raised $2000 for the inaugural
event through merchant dona-
tions, sales, driver contribu
tions, raffles, etc. This year’s
event will raise the bar to ex
ceed the mark set last year. Ap

Buxton School
sold to BCA
Buxton School will again be
filled with the sound of school
children at play, now that an
agreement has been reached
by the Banks School District to
sell the property to Banks
Christian Academy. The negoti
ated sales price for the unused
school is $405,000.
Negotiations for the sale of
the property have taken sever
al months, but it appears to
benefit both organizations.
Banks School District is in the
middle of a four-year debt re
payment program caused by a
variety of miscalculations over
several years and the $75,000
down payment would ease
much of the financial pressure.
Banks Christian Academy
will be able to move from their
current facility on N. Main
Street and have room to ex
pand their program.
