New Exec named for Logger group
Associated Oregon Loggers
has selected Jim Geisinger as
Executive Vice President and
CEO. He will replace H. Mike
Miller, who will be managing
the Friends of Paul Bunyan
Foundation, which was created
in 1997 by the association.
Geisinger is currently presi
dent of the Northwest Forestry
A ssociation, w here he has
been responsible for the man
agement and direction of the
trade association and their
work on forest management is
sues. He has served in that po
sition since 1987.
Geisinger was named by the
Clinton administration as a for-
est industry delegate to the
1993
Forest
C onference
chaired by Pres. Clinton and
Vice-Pres. Al Gore. This con
ference began a process that
ultimately resulted in President
C linton's N orthw est Forest
Plan. Geisinger served a key
role in the successful place
ment of legislative language in
the FY 1995 Interior Appropria
tions Bill that effectively pre
vented the closure of several
northwest mills.
Geisinger has a Forest Man
agement degree and an MBA
from Oregon State University.
He will begin his new duties on
June 1, 2000.

Annual Columbia County Garden Fair and sale set
The fourth annual Columbia

Town & Country Garden Fair
and Plant Sale will be held Sat
urday, April 29, from 9:00 a.m.
to 3:00 p.m., in the St. Helens
High School Commons. The
garden fair and plant sale is
free, and no registration is re
quired.
The event will also feature
free seminars, a Master Gar
dener’s Plant Clinic, and more.
The sem inar beginning at
9:30 a.m. will deal with growing
a prize-winning tomato. The
second seminar, at 11:00 a.m.,
w ill focus on “ Planning the
perennial garden,” with Eliza

The Master Gardeners plant
sale will feature a variety of
tom ato plants, perennial and
annual flowers, miniature ros
es, shrubbery and trees.

bouquet” of cards assortment,
which comes with a special gift
