The INDEPENDENT, March 1, 2000 Page 13 New system designed to block telemarketing calls to residences A new service is available to Oregon consumers who want to limit the number of telem ar- keting calls they receive at home. The “black dot” law form erly used has been replaced with the Oregon “No Call” List pro- gram. With some exceptions, telephone solicitors are prohib- ited from calling consum ers who register with the program. New version of Oregon Blue Book available online The new online version of the Oregon Blue Book is now available. The latest edition of the Blue Book contains several new fea tures, including a page de signed ju st for kids. O nline users can now also access county and com m unity profile information through a link to the O regon E conom ic and Comm unity Development De partment web page. The Sec retary of State’s office is also in the process of providing links to information about the w ork ings of individual state agen cies. Soon the history, adm inis trative rules, budget informa tion, audit reports and public records of a particular agency will be available through the online Blue Book. The Blue Book, published biennially since 1911, is Ore gon’s official government direc tory and encyclopedia of histo ry and facts. The online edition can be seen at http/Zwww.blue- bQQk,state,or.qs. The printed version will continue to be pro duced every two years.
