Now is the time to enroll in
the C olum bia C ounty 4-H
Youth D evelopm ent program
for both youth members and
adult volunteers.
Many parents and children
often begin thinking about the
4-H Youth Development pro

By then, many of the opportuni
ties in 4-H are over, as well as
the deadline for participating at
County Fair.
The 4-H Youth Development
program offers a wide spec
trum of projects. Projects and
clubs are located in every com
m unity in the county; there may
be a project club for your son or
daughter’s interest just around
the corner. Please take the
tim e now to contact W oody
Davis at the OSU Extension
Service for information at 503-

volunteer leader training. That
gives parents the opportunity
to serve their child and other
children as a 4-H club leader.

“4-H Adventures” start in county
Columbia County now offers
a 4-H program for youngsters
in kindergarten through third
grade. The 4-H A dventures
program is a non-competitive,
age-appropriate curriculum de
signed to explore the 4-H pro
gram. The project takes youth
through a variety of topics and
activities throughout the year.
The Adventures curriculum
includes a variety of topics and
does not concentrate on just
one project as in the program
for fourth through tw elvth
graders.
Many parents enjoy the A d
ventures program it allow s
members to explore for three
or four years. Then, when their
child is ready for a project club,
