County 24-Hour Relay Chal
lenge, held Oct. 9 on the
Rainier High School track, was
a resounding success.
Twenty-one teams with over
200 participants, raised more
than seven thousand dollars to
be used in Columbia County to
fight drug and alcohol abuse.
Over 200 volunteers from
throughout the county made
this event possible.

Circle is excited to have five
Beany Baby Bears to auction
at the Fall Festival on Satur
day, October 24. The festival
kicks off at 6:00 p.m. in the Mist
School gym.
Princess Diana, Erin, Peace,
Curly, and Valentino Bears have
been donated to the auction by
Barbara Hodgson, mother of
Mist Grade School primary

Other Fall Festival activities
include raffle baskets, door
prizes, a silent auction, bake
sale, plant sale, and a quilt raf
fle.
A quilt was donated for the
Fall Festival by Mrs. Bruce
Eliot of Birkenfeld. The king-
size quilt was crafted by the
quilters of St. Mary’s Church in
Vernonia and raffled at their
1997 Quilt Fair. Mrs. Elliot won
the raffle and has generously
donated the quilt to the Helping
Circle for the club’s annual
fund raiser.
The Upper Nehalem Dix
ieland Band will be there to
give a special performance.
