Many summer activities for youth scheduled at Vernonia Head Start Vernonia Head Start is offer ing a variety of summer activi ties for children of all ages July 6 through Aug. 13, in the Head Start building on California Ave. Mondays: Cooking classes, ages 10-16, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. $2.00 per class or $10.00 for all six weeks. The class will lunch on the food they’ve cooked. Tuesdays: Mom & Tots Group, ages 2-4 years, 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (10-11:30 a.m., parenting classes for moms; 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., mom and tots together time; 12:30, lunch.) $2.00 fee for the class includes lunch. Wednesdays: Outdoor Activ ities. Children from kinder garten through second grade will play from 10 a.m.-Noon, third through sixth graders 1-3 p.m. Cost is $2.00 per week or $10.00 for all six weeks. A snack is included. Thursdays: Arts & Crafts. Kindergarten through second grade will meet from 10 a.m.-Noon, third through sixth graders at 12:30-2:30. Kids, a group of seventh and eighth grade stu dents at Washington Grade School, will collect pop cans door-to-door on Monday, July 6, to raise funds toward their trip to Washington D.C. The drive will be from 2-7 p.m. Anyone who would like to donate cans but won’t be home may leave them in a bag on the porch.
