In fro n t, l-r, a re M a ria R o b e rts , FRANCES HERSHEY Frances Hershey, 75, Forest Grove, died May 6, 1998, at the Jennings-McCall Center in Forest Grove. A celebration of life was May 9, at Vernonia Memorial Ceme tery, with Mr. Gordon Crowston of Tillam ook, officiating. Interment followed. Mrs Hershey was bom May 31, 1922, in Lebanon, Oregon to Albert and Carna (Smith) Childs. She moved to Vernonia at the age of one, and graduated from Ver nonia High School in 1940. She attended Pacific University and majored in English. She married Lawrence N. M ullins in 1940 at St. Helens. They lived in Vernonia. Mr. Mullins died in 1944 while serving on a destroyer that was lost at sea. In 1953 she married DeeVeere L. Her shey in Portland. They lived on a farm in the Natal community. In 1966 they moved to Napa, then to Vernonia in 1976. Mrs. Hershey moved to the Jennings- McCall Center in Forest Grove in 1996. She had been a member of the Rain bow Girls and later served as Mother Advi sor for the Rainbow Girls in Vernonia. She was a member of O.E.S. Nehalem Chapter #153 in Vernonia, and served as Past Ma tron. She also was a member of P.E.O.
