JENELLE WIGGINS Jenelle Wiggins, 47, Vernonia, died January 1, 1998, at her home of cancer. A wake was held Jan. 3 at the family home. Disposition was by cremation. Ms Wiggins was bom Oct. 2, 1950, in Santa Monica, Calif, to Norman and Dorothy (Greenway) Wiggins. She was raised in Iowa and attended the University of Iowa. She moved to Vernonia about 1975. She married John Wysong in 1981; they were divorced in 1985. In 1990, she married Cory Colburn. Ms Wiggins used her interest in history and local people to interview and photo graph Nehalem Valley residents, both old- timers and newcomers, publishing articles in the Vernonia Freedom, helping people get acquainted while bridging the “home- boy/alien" gap. She worked for Community Action Team in St. Helens, in the weatherization and low income housing assistance pro gram. She was preceded in death by her fa ther in 1961. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Tucker Wysong and Charles Col burn-Wiggins, both of Vernonia; mother, Dorothy Wiggins of Fountain Hills, Arizona; sister, Susan Becker of Berkeley, Calif.; brother, Frank Wiggins of Washington, D.C. Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home was in charge o, arrangements. SANTO DISTEFANO Santo Distefano, 76, died Jan. 13, 1998. A Mass of Christian burial was Jan. 16, in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. The rosary was recited Jan. 15, in Portland Memorial Funeral Home. Emtombment was in Portland Memorial Mausoleum. Mr. Distefano was born June 16, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo. In 1956, after years of studying in North Africa and living in Italy, he returned to the United States, moving to Portland.. He married Cira in 1956, in Italy. Mr. Distefano was a cabinetmaker for 32 years for the Charles Grant Co. Among other projects, he built a 40-foot conference table for the U.S. Bank Tower in 1983. He retired in 1989. Survivors include his wife; sons, Mario Leonetti of Vernonia and Tony Leonetti of Vancouver, Wash.; sister, Nancy Bonfiglio of Portland; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to the American Diabetes Association. HELEN E. SMITH Helen Evelyn Smith, 85, Seaside, died January 10, 1998. A memorial service was held Jan. 13 at Calvary Episcopal Church in Seaside, with Fr. Chet Falby officiating. In terment was a, Evergreen Cemetery, Sea side. Mrs. Smith was born January 8, 1913, in Vernonia to Charles and Emma (Peder son) Bergerson. She married Ervin Smith. They moved to Seaside in 1950. Survivors include one daughter, Janet Smith Teevin of Seaside; one son, Gordon E. Smith of Portland; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grand son, Jeffrey Teevin. Memorial contributions may be sen, to Hospice, c/o Hughes-Ransom Mortuary, SEaside. Hughes-Ransom Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. ARCHIE L WALLACE Archie Lincoln Wallace, 82, Banks, died Dec. 26, 1997. Private services were held. Disposition was by cremation. Mr. Wallace was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Jasper. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Wallace lived most of his life in the Jasper and Springfield areas and worked as a faller in the logging industry. He had lived in Banks since 1986. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his daughter, Eliza beth White of Banks; stepdaughters, Jody Bachman o, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mary Ann Olsen of Cheshire and Janette Heft of Bay- town, Texas; stepsons, John Simon of Springfield and Peter Simon of Eugene; 23 grandchildren. Westside Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements. CAMERON HENDERSON Cameron Henderson, 81, died Jan. 5, 1998 A memorial service was Jan. 10 in Beaverton Elks Lodge. Disposition was by cremation. Mr. Henderson was bom Feb. 11,1916, in Tate, Saskatchewan. In 1948 he moved from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Port land. He was a goldsmith. Mr. Henderson's firs, wife, Dolly, died in 1972. He married Vera Eichenberger in 1973. He was the founding president of the Portland Highland Dance Asociation, pas, master of Masonic Lodge 210 and pipe ma jor with the Portland Scottish Pipe Band. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Heather Mash of Calgary, Alberta; son, William of Banks; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to the Portland Highland Games Association. Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes was in charge of arrangements. ALLEN 0 . VanDOMELEN Allen 0 . VanDomelen, 63, Mountain- dale, died Jan. 8,1998, a, St. Vincent Hos pital in Portland of a heart attack. A funeral was Jan. 13, in Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, with Pastor Bill Warren officiating. Interment was in Rafferty Cemetery in Mountaindale. Mr. VanDomelen was born Feb. 20, 1934, at his grandmother’s home in Hills boro, to Oliver and Frances (Kearn) Van Domelen. He lived in the Iowa Hill area south of Cornelius before moving with his family to Mountaindale in 1944. He attend ed Meacham School in Mountaindale and Hillsboro High School. He and his father operated a logging and farming business, raising livestock, grain, and strawberries. Mr. VanDomelen married Doloris Stroeder in 1954, in Hillsboro. They lived in Forest Grove for a short time before moving to a farm in Mountaindale. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Butterworth, in 1994. Survivors include his wife; sons, Dave of Mountaindale and Bar, of North Plains; daughters, Jolene Sholey of Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Angie Reese of Long Beach, Calif.; brother, Marv of Buxton; sisters, Margie Evers of Banks and Linda Pierson of Cornelius; six grandchildren; 21 nieces and nephews. Remembrances are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, the West- side Lutheran School Association, or the Allen VanDomelen Headstone Fund. Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home of Hills boro was in charge of arrangements. CHARLES HAYDEN Charles Hayden, 69, died Jan. 3,1998. A memorial service was Jan. 17, in Firs, Christian Church of Portland. Disposition was by cremation. Mr. Hayden was born May 23, 1928, in Portland. He graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Gonzaga Uni versity. He married Susan Dewey in 1979. Mr. Hayden was a self-employed tour and travel director and founded Suntime Tour and Travel agencies in Portland and Beaverton. He retired in 1992. He co-founded the Willamette Shore Railway and the Vernonia, South Park and Sunset Steam Railroad. Mr. Hayden was a member of Firs, Church of Christ, Scientist, in Beaverton. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mary of Lake Oswego, Melissa of Spokane and Cindy Clague of Eugene; brother, Jim of Wickenburg, Ariz.; seven grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to Tualatin Valley Centers' Step by Step program. JOSEPHINE C. BUSBY Josephine Charlotte Busby, 86, died Jan. 10,1998. A memorial service was Jan. 17 in Rockaway Community Church in Rockaway Beach. Graveside services were in Willamette National Cemetery. Mrs. Busby was bom June 13,1911, in Hayes, Mich. Her maiden name was Ranes. She lived in Portland from 1925 to 1968. She married Morris Busby in 1930. Mrs. Busby was a former member of Sellwood Baptist Church and a member of Rockaway Community Church. Survivors include her husband; sons, Leslie M. and Claude B „ both of Portland; daughters, Ricella C. Sincock and Anita Hall, both of Rockaway Beach, Lorinda Marie of Portland and Victoria M. Shields of Mist; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchil dren and four great-grea,-grandchildren. Remembrances are suggested to the Peniel Mission in Portland. Lincoln Memorial Park Funeral Home in Portland was in charge of arrangements. JUDITH L. HOLSEY Judith Lee holsey, 57, died Dec. 27, 1997, of diabetes and renal failure. Ser vices were Dec. 31, in Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Wilsonville. Interment was in Willamette National Cemetery. Mrs. Holsey was bom June 12,1940, in Portland. Her maiden name was Cantwell.She graduated from Vernonia High School in 1958. She married Lawrence Holsey in 1958. Mrs. Holsey worked at Tektronix in Wilsonville for 30 years and was a supervi sor. Survivors include her husband, and a sister, Rena Miller of Ketchikan, Alaska. Remembrances are suggested to the American Diabetes Association. DESSIE J. KING Dessie J. King, 83, Hillsboro, died Jan. 18, 1998. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Bron leewe-Bass Funeral Home, 1070 W. Main, Hillsboro. Interment will be in Fir Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. King was bom June 17, 1914, in Fargo, Okla., to Pete and Hattie May (Tay lor) Lane. She married Ralph William King in 1939 in Oakwood, Oklahoma. They moved to Hillsboro in 1956, then lived in Vernonia from 1968 to 1990 before returning to Hills boro because of poor health. Mrs. King was active in the Vernonia Bible Church and Evergreen Christian Cen ter in Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by her hus band in 1991, and a son, Jerry R. in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Smallwood, son, Ralph, and daughter-in- law, Carol King, all of Hillsboro; sister, Vir ginia Wes, of Sacramento, Cali,.; brother Herschel Lane o, Guymon, Okla.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchil several grand children, great-grandchil dren, nieces and nephews. A funeral was Jan. 12, in New Vision Fellowship Church in Beaverton. Interment was in Sunset Hills Memorial Park. Mrs. James was bom Nov. 6, 1918, in Westboro, Mo. Her maiden name was En yart. She had lived in Portland since 1944. She was a salesperson in a women’s clothing store, and retired in 1977. Mrs. James was a member of the church. Survivors include her husband, Ed; sons, Gary L. Enyart o, Beaverton and Michael James o, Portland; daughters, Keri A. Kaiser o, Portland and Peggy J. Oakes o, Banks; brother, Donald L.
