Page 4 The INDEPENDENT, May 21,1997 Greene offers tax, liability advice Many business owners are frustrated by the amount of taxes they pay, a situation well understood by Phillip Greene of Vernonia. Greene has been working with business owners since 1989 and since 1993 has been president of Insured In vestment Concepts, Inc., a company that assists small, closely held businesses. “Successful business own ers are involved in the tax game,” said Greene, “and they have only one of two choices: Play or Pay.” Because of that reality, In sured Investment Concepts helps business owners with proper structuring and posi tioning of assets in order to achieve substantial tax sav ings. Free, unlimited consulta tion time is provided by In sured Investment Concepts to determine if their service is appropriate to your business. Business owners wanting to talk with Greene may call him in Vernonia, 429-2310, or at his Beaverton number, 642- 7671. His ad may be found in The INDEPENDENT Profes sional Directory. Greene and his wife, Pam, live on Creekview Lane. They have two grown daughters, one of whom is a dentist, the other is a teacher. Downtown Business group forms The charter meeting of the Vernonia Downtown Busi ness Association was held May 1. All local businesses were invited to share their ideas for revitalization of our downtown and approximately 20 local businesses were rep resented. The initial concern was whether a downtown busi ness association was need ed, and the overwhelming re sponse was “Yes.” Those in volved are excited about the opportunity to help our down town become a place we all want to work in, shop in, visit, and be proud of. The June 7 grand opening of the Vernon ia Farmers’ Marketplace is a small step in that direction. Interested business people are urged to attend the next meeting.
