NOTICE OF ELECTION
EXTENSION OF TIME TO RLE
The residents of Vernonia are re­
minded that a Building Permit is required
before any work is started on the con­
struction, remodeling or repair of a build­
ing within the City of Vernonia.
Fences do not require a building per­
mit but there are regulations concerning
height and placement.
Before construction of sidewalks or
curbs, one week notice must be given to
the Superintendent of Public Works.
To avoid problems, please call City
Hall, 429-5291.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the
City of Vernonia has extended the dead­
line for filing of Petitions of Nomination
for City offices to be filled by election on
November5,1996:
Mayor - 2-year term
Council Member - Two 4-year terms
Candidates for these positions may file
Petitions of Nomination either by obtain­
ing signatures of 20 registered voters, or
by paying a filing fee of $10.
The completed forms must be returned
to City Hall no later than 5:00 p.m. on
Monday, August 26,1996.
Forms may be obtained from City Hall,
919 Bridge Street, Vernonia, Monday
through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m.

Amendment to UGB Management
Agreement Between City of Vernonia,
Oregon, and Columbia County
N o tice Is hereby g iven that the
Columbia County Plann ing Commission
will conduct a public hearing for the pur­
pose of amending the Urban Growth
Management Agreement between City of
Vernonia, Oregon, and Columbia County,
pursuant to Chapters 190, 197 and 203
of the Oregon Revised Statutes and pur­
suant to the Oregon Statewide Planning
Goals.
Th public hearing will be held before
the Columbia County Planning Commis­
sion on Monday, September 9,1996, in
Room 315, Circuit Courtroom, on the
third floor of the Columbia County Court­
house Annex, St. Helens, Oregon, start­
ing at or after 6:30 p.m., at which time
proponents and opponents of the text
amendment will be heard.
Copies of the proposed changes are
available in the Planning Department.
These proposed changes may be
amended at the public hearing. All inter­
ested parties may appear and be heard.
The hearing will be held in accordance
with the provisions of the Columbia
County Zoning Ordinances and the Com­
prehensive Plan.
