Boy Scouts must complete m any re q u ire m e n ts to achieve Eagle, the highest rank in the organization. Re quirem ents include earning 21 m erit badges, learning skills in first aid and camping, perform ing com m unity ser vice and holding leadership positions. Living by the Scout Oath and Law are also impor tant parts of becoming an Ea gle Scout. Only about two percent of those who join the Boy Scouts of America earn th e ir Eagle S cout Aw ard, Scouting’s highest honor. Into the Woods, a musical by S teven S ondheim and James Lapine, will be staged at P a cific U n iv e rs ity on November 15, 16, 17 and 19. The 7:30 p.m. performances w ill take place in the Tom Miles theater on campus. The musical is based on several fairy tales, including C in d e re lla , Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Rid ing Hood. In the m usical, however, the characters - Jack, who could be consid ered a thief and a murderer; Cinderella, who’s really an impostor; and Little Red Rid ing Hood, who murders the wolf - are held accountable for their actions. The 24-person cast con sists of Pacific students and alumni including Tony Beckett as the N arrator, C ourtney Crews as the Baker’s Wife, Eddie Hargreaves as Jack, Heather Houston as Cinderel la. Carol Pfeifer as the Witch. G arrett Pool as the Baker, Lavinia Sheets as Little Red R iding Hood, and S helby Wickhorst as the Wolf. The performance is direct ed by Ed Collier. Dr. George Harshbarger is musical direc tor. Costumes are by Greta Christensen and set design is by Michael J. Prosser. Allison Batty is the vocal coach. Liz Edwards and Genevieve Gar- diner are student assistant di rectors. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Groups of ten or more will re ceive a $1 discount off each ticket. Tickets are available th ro u g h the Box O ffic e at (503) 359-2918, and also at the door. There will be no late seating.
