Kids and teachers
need help of PTA
To the Editor:
My fam ily and I recently
moved to Vernonia, after one
visit. We felt the warm “home
town” feeling, just driving in to
town so, on this 22nd day of
August I went to register two
of my four children for school.
I was upset to learn there is
no PTA or PTO here.
Where we come from, my
husband and I and a good
share of our friends were in
volved and loved participating
in our children’s school time,
as well as extracurricular ac
tivities.
Some of the things we did
for our kids were to get mate
rials fo r the playground, li
brary, arts and crafts, and
help as teachers' aides or on
the playg rou nd as w ell as
putting on a book fa ir and
c a rn iv a l th a t raised about
$3,500 for our classrooms.
Time is always an issue,
but we all make tim e to do
things we enjoy; so why not
show our kids we enjoy time
