From page 1 sion, for a period of 50 years, and in return, Banks Lumber Company will erect a 2,000 square ft. facility needed by the port for a suitable depot. This agreement was suggest ed by Ann D o tte r, lu m b e r company secretary, after oth er negotiations were thwarted by a morass of red tape. Building contractor Terry G oodrich was aw arded the $123,000 project, with the tar get date for com pletion ap proximately four months from now. Contracts for some ele ments of the project, ie., land scaping, parking lots and sid ing, will be let by the port as they make arrangem ents to meet other costs. Among potential uses for the b u ild in g , th e P ort of T illa m o o k has been d is c u s s in g w ith th e O reg on Parks Department the feasi bility of using the depot as the southern trailhead and infor mation center for the Banks Vernonia Linear State Park. If th e y can rea ch an a g re e ment, funds fo r parking lot m aintenance and landscap ing could be offset by state funding. Road work will cause traffic delay Motorists can continue to expect one-way traffic con trolled by flaggers, Monday through Friday, on Hwy. 47 between the communities of B anks and Forest G rove. Paving, shoulder work and sign installation is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Motorists are advised to ex pect some delays, according to the Oregon Department of Transpsortation.
