City council continues to work on sewer funding Sewer system funding tenting fees in Anderson Park and potential vacations of city owned properly occupied most of the Vernonia City Council's meeting lime this month A nother hurdle was lum ped in fu n d in g of the sewer rehabilitation program with receipt ot grants from the U S Environmental Pro tection Agency and Housing and Urban D evelopm ent The city is still awaiting teder al loan guarantees needed to secure the remainder of its funding package The council adopted an overnight tent fee of $5 per nigh, a, Anderson Park bu, waived the charge tor a June 22 24 horse show hosted by the Vernonia Ridge Riders Horse Club because entrants hadn't been informed in ad vance o, the tee The council authorized va eating a portion o, city owned prope rty betw een B ridge Street and Alabama Avenue, in order to clear title to one piece o, p riv a te ly owned properly Two additional va cations have been requested by property owners in the same general area, their merits will be reviewed at a public hearing on August 20 In other bu sin e ss, the council • Heard a report trom the Airport Committee regarding plans tor potential develop men, o, the airport. • Agreed to sponsor the local Salmon Trout Enhance men, Program • Heard a petition asking correction o, water drainage on A and B Streets, • Se, new rates o, $235, $250 and $275 tor cemetery plots. • Approved Librarian Nan cy Burch's attempt to obtain a grant tor a microfilm rea der/printer • Adopted the budge, tor fiscal year 1990 91 • Adopted a substance abuse policy tor city employ ees 47J directors approve extra duty jobs, reward outstanding teachers Vernonia School District directors, a, their June 14 meeting approved the follow ing extra duty contracts tor the 1990 91 school year Pete Forgey.
