Dec. 14 2:32 p.m., 900 block 24th Avenue: Hazardous materi- als condition reported. 3:12 p.m. 500 block S. Roo- sevelt: A deceased cat is re- moved. Dec. 15 10:23 a.m., Broadway Park: Criminal mischief is report- ed. 4:23 p.m., 200 block Sixth Avenue: A large dog re- ported in a neighbor’s yard is captured by police and returned to its owner. 6:37 p.m., 1000 block S. Downing: Police assist Sheriff ’s offi ce on a call. 7:43 p.m., 2100 block Lewis and Clark Road: Property crimes are reported. Dec. 16 8:49 a.m., 1400 block N. Roosevelt: After receiving a report of a transient camp, police advise occupants to move along and clean up or be issued a fi ne for litter- ing near a waterway. 10:07 a.m., Mill Ponds: Sub- jects are cited for littering. 3:10 p.m., Mill Ponds: Cit- izen brought in a clarinet found in the area previous- ly reported stolen. 9:47 p.m., Fourth and Roo- sevelt: Police respond to a report of two subjects fi ghting in a parking lot. Dec. 27 9:26 p.m., North Holladay Drive: Firefi ghters respond to a house fi re. Offi cials say the fi re started in the dry- er. Firefi ghters were able to contain the fi re to the laun- dry room. There is damage to the room and signifi cant smoke damage, but the house is still livable. No inju- ries were reported. Driver cited for careless driving. 6:20 a.m., 300 block Fifth Avenue: Fire investigation. 5:25 p.m., Avenue G: Emer- gency medical response, assist other agency. 11:59 p.m., 1500 block Whispering Pines lane: Sus- picious circumstances are reported. Gearhart assists with impound On Dec. 17 at 9:23 a.m., on Highway 101 by Delmoor Loop, the Gearhart police chief assisted Oregon State police with a large box truck observed by a trooper to be in lane violation. When pulled over, the driver, a 19-year-old from Washington, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended or re- voked license. The driver reported be- ing a contracted delivery company for Amazon, but refused to off er his company name, and had no verifi able paperwork. The box truck was impounded by Classic Towing. The reported owner of the delivery company showed up on scene via taxi, and at- tempted to force the trooper to not impound the truck. The driver refused to exit the truck. Options of arrest were off ered to both subjects who were highly uncooperative. The driver, Tybre Jakobe Snell, 21 from Oregon, was found to have an active war- rant for his arrest through the Clatsop County Sheriff ’s Offi ce. Snell was arrested in the Safeway parking lot and transported to the Clatsop County Jail. His vehicle was secured at the scene. Outstanding warrants On Dec. 24 at 2:23 p.m., on Highway 101 by the Seaside Airport, Antonio De Jesus Corona, 28, from Hillsboro, was stopped for a traffi c vi- olation and found to have two warrants for his arrest from Washington County. Corona was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Clatsop County Jail. The black Chevy was driven away from the scene by its registered owner. Woman falls asleep at the wheel On Dec. 22 at 6:47 a.m., on Highway 26 near Bear Road, a 43 year old woman from Seaside told police she fell asleep at the wheel while traveling westbound near MP 23 and crashed the gray Chevy Tahoe she was driving into a ditch. The driver was trans- ported to the hospital by ambulance with minor in- juries. The vehicle suff ered signifi cant damage and was impounded and towed by Classic Towing. Five-vehicle crash On Dec. 26 at 14:05 p.m., on Highway 101 near MP 13, a fi ve-vehicle crash occurred as a result of a northbound driver failing to stay in their lane. Police say the north- bound vehicle travelled into the southbound lane where it hit two separate vehicles. One of the vehicles crashed into a separate northbound vehicle. A single vehicle, unrelat- ed to the crash, attempted to avoid the crash and drove off the highway and on to the earth embankment. Nine people were trans- ported to three diff erent hospitals. The highway was closed for several hours. ODOT, Warrenton Fire De- partment, Clatsop County Sheriff ’s Offi ce, and Classic Towing all assisted at the scene. A citation was issued to the at fault driver, a 73-year- old man from Talent for careless driving. Involved in the crash were a 37-year- old man, address unknown; an 81-year-old man from Gearhart; a 31-year-old man from Astoria; and a 37-year- old man from Fir Crest, Washington. Road rage incident causes crash On Dec. 22 at 2:03 p.m., on Highway 26 near MP 18, a road rage incident was re- ported to be the cause of a crash. Police say the at-fault vehicle fl ed the scene; the victim called and reported the crash. The fl eeing vehi- cle was located shortly after by the Seaside police in the Lake Forest RV park. The occupants of the vehi- cle were detained and ques- tioned. Who was behind the wheel has yet to be de- termined. Police say a two- year-old child was inside the fl eeing vehicle. Gary’s Towing was on scene to remove the crashed vehicle. This incident is un- der investigation. Lane violation, active warrant On Dec. 24 at 2:10 p.m., on Highway 101 and Avenue A in Seaside, state police stopped the driver of a dark green Mazda for a lane vio- lation. 503.717.2191 Don’t get left out in the rain!
