A2 • Friday, November 8, 2019 | Seaside Signal | SeasideSignal.com OBITUARIES Rosetta “Rosie” Marie Egbert April 3, 1933 — Oct. 31, 2019 Rosetta “Rosie” Marie Egbert passed away, at peace, with family by her side, on Oct. 31, 2019, in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 86. She was a lifelong resi- dent of Seaside and Gear- hart, Oregon, and had moved to the Port- land area a few years ago to be near her chil- dren, grand- children and great-grandchild. Rosie was born April 3, 1933, in Oregon City, Ore- gon, to Diane and Bob Clark. She was a lov- ing wife, mother, grand- mother, great-grand- mother, sister and friend. She was always willing and eager to help anyone in need; she was a very giving person. She attended Seaside schools where she met and eventually married the love of her life, Mike Egbert. They were married 53 years before he passed away in 2005. The couple had fi ve children together. Rosie loved rais- ing her children, includ- ing sports activities while they were young, work- ing with Avon, the Sea- side Rebekah’s Lodge and her pets. She had a love for all animals. She also loved being busy, was an avid gardener, and had an ener- getic spirit. She worked as an offi ce manager and bookkeeper for most of her career. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Egbert. Rosie is survived by her fi ve children, Dianna and Charles Crans- ton of Portland, Oregon, Mary Egbert of Bea- verton, Oregon, Michael and Brandi Egbert of Palo Alto, Cal- ifornia, Kathie Sandbothe of Portland, Ore- gon, and Tony and Dani Egbert of Gearhart, Ore- gon; seven grandchildren, Carly and Matt Field of Portland, Oregon, Zach Cranston of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kristin McLaughlin of Brooklyn, New York, Anthony, Kristin, and great-grandson, Jacob, Sandbothe of Portland, Oregon, Alix Sandbothe of Omaha, Nebraska, Gabryell Hanson of Palo Alto, California, and Max Egbert of Palo Alto, Cali- fornia; her sister, Barbara Engelman of Mesa, Ari- zona and her brother, Tom Stone of Salem, Oregon. McIntyre Seaside July 15, 1952 — Sept. 21, 2019 William D. McIntyre, who was a resident of Sea- side, passed away on Sept. 21, 2019, in a hospital in Port- land, Oregon. Born on July 15, 1952, to Ruth and Will McIn- tyre of Gig Har- bor, Washing- ton, Bill grew up loving the out- doors, and that is why he moved to Seaside over 30 years ago, to enjoy a surfer life- style, and work outdoors in construction. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Richard. He leaves behind his brother, Doug, and a niece, Caitlin, and nephew, Jason, and many cousins. A celebra- tion of his life will take place at the American Legion Hall in Seaside on Nov. 9, 2019, from 12 to 3 p.m. He was fondly known as “Billy Mac,” and a local surfi ng legend. MEMORIALS Donna Dean Bergstrom Seaside fi refi ghters on the return Seaside Signal Seaside fi refi ghters Chris Dugan, Jenson Segui and Max Savage are heading back to Seaside this after- noon following a week in California assisting with the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County. The fi re, which began Oct. 23, is 80% contained, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protec- tion reported Monday. Res- idents are returning to their homes as evacuation orders are lifted. Crews will con- tinue their progress as they mop up and construct more containment line. Active for 11 days, the fi re has covered almost 78,000 acres of vegetation. Along with a department brush truck, the fi refi ghters joined the Columbia County Strike Team No. 4 to fi ght the fi re, Chief Joey Daniels told the City Council on Oct. 28. Div. Chief Lt. Chris Dugan, and fi refi ghters Jenson Segui and Matt Savage at the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County, California. Dugan, Savage and Segui left Seaside last Wednes- day for Sonoma County and spent their entire week assisting crews from Cali- fornia and the region with the 78,000-acre blaze. According to Seaside Public Information Offi - cer Jon Rahl, the fi refi ghters deployed with the Columbia County Strike Team #4. The crews were part of 15 strike teams from across Oregon that were mobilized four days after the fi re began. As of Monday, nine of the 15 total teams that demo- bilized and have arrived back in Oregon or are cur- rently en route back home. Six Oregon crews moved to the Ranch Fire in Tehama County which started Nov. 3. Deck installation offers a salute to veteran By R.J. MARX Seaside Signal Members of “Team Depot” converged on this home on North Wahanna Road in Seaside this week for a labor of love. They responded to a request for assistance from a local vet- erans’ group to come to the aid of a Vietnam veteran in need. On Monday morning, Team Depot co-captains Jer- emy Gleason and Sandie Laccinola were joined by Mitch Thielen, Daniel Fox-Telford, Anthony Bel- tran, Mindy Mead and Tony Poelstra in replacing a deck in need of repair, provid- ing materials and labor at no cost. “The deck was in disar- ray,” Gleason said. “Part of it was sunken in and falling apart. They had caution tape around it. He couldn’t cross the front to walk around to his utility room.” This is co-captain Sandie Laccinole’s third major proj- ect with Team Depot, which reaches out to local com- munities and helps those in need. “We’re always look- ing for projects and the more we can do to help the com- munity, the better,” she said. “‘Anytime we can get out as a team and do something for a community, it’s just awesome,” Gleason added.
