Citizens police academy graduates its 12th class Seaside Signal There was more than one graduation in Seaside Monday, June 10. June 8 6:53 a.m., 400 block S. Roos- evelt: A person is arrested on a warrant. 4:40 p.m., 200 block Broadway: Police respond to a report of a white powder substance in a bag found on the ground. Offi - cer retrieved substance. 7:09 p.m., 400 block S. Roos- evelt: While responding to a medical emergency call, a sub- ject was put on mental hold by a police offi cer. Academy celebrated its 12th by adding state police to the mix, along with Can- non Beach, Seaside and other jurisdic- tions who work with citizens to teach them what goes on behind the scenes in law enforcement, especially locally. “It’s certainly different than what you hear and see,” Cannon Beach enue: A missing person is re- ported. 2:04 p.m., 1800 block Huckle- berry Lane: A disturbance is reported. 4:19 p.m., Avenue U and Prom: Police respond to a report of an intoxicated male carrying a sword. June 11 2:20 a.m., Avenue G: Suspicious behavior is reported of a person or persons going around trying doors; police speak to subjects who say they are not engaged in this behavior. Downing: A person is arrested on a warrant. 9:00 p.m., 8800 block Dawson Road: Police assist Gearhart po- lice on a call. June 13 7:56 a.m., 800 block 13th Av- Fire Log 6:34 p.m., Police headquarters: A person came in to register as a sex off ender. June 9 June 10 Police Chief Jason Schermerhorn said. Among graduates, Regina Jones enjoyed it so much she took the class a second time, Schermerhorn said. Seaside City Councilor Steve Wright was also a graduate of the cit- izens academy, which met every Tues- day evening from April to June. 8:24 p.m., 400 block Avenue A: A dog wandering at large is brought to the police station until its owner can be located. 7:43 a.m., 400 block S. Holla- day: Emergency medical re- sponse. June 13 7:18 a.m., 2500 block Millcreek: Emergency medical response. Oregon State Police Log Car vs. deer accident on Highway 101 On June 14 at 7:23 a.m., on Highway 101 and Cullaby Lake Lane, police responded to a re- port of a non-injury crash that occurred when a 65 year old woman driving a Honda trav- eling southbound on Highway 101 around Milepost 14 struck a deer that ran out into the road. The driver sustained no injuries. There was signifi cant vehicle damage. Motorcycle accident on Highway 101 On June 14 at 2:02 p.m., police responded to an injury crash involving multiple motorcycles on Highway 101 near Milepost 35. Police say the operator of Motorcycle 2 was leading a group of four riders when he misread his navigation device R.J. Marx Ken Heman of the Seaside Visitors Bureau is the fi rst to try out the newly repainted Adirondack chair. The chair received a paint job before public works employees returned it via fl atbed to its spot at the corner of Broadway and Roosevelt Drive. and attempted a last minute turn on to the “ramp” leading to Highway 26. As Unit 2 moved towards the exit ramp, the rear of his motorcycle clipped the front of Unit 1, which was slightly behind him. Both riders were on Harley Davidson bikes and are from Washington. No further information was avail- able regarding injuries. Woman charged with reckless driving On June 15 at 12:20 p.m., on Highway 26 at Milepost 10, Marie Elena Thus, 51, driving a silver Subaru, was charged with reckless driving and hav- ing an open container of alco- hol during a traffi c stop. Police observed an open container of beer inside the vehicle. A fi eld sobriety test was performed. Ms. Thus was cleared by cita- tion and returns to court July 30. Seaside woman charged with DUII On June 16 at 8:06 p.m., on Highway 101 and Rippet Lane, Jeana F. Okeson, 51 of Seaside, was arrested and charged with driving while under the infl u- ence of intoxicants, reckless driving, and reckless endan- germent of a Person. Police say while working in the construc- tion zone of U.S. Highway 101 at Milepost 24, they observed a Honda Accord traveling southbound nose into south- bound traffi c while partially in the northbound lane. An- other motorist fl agged police down to report this same ve- hicle passing motorists in a no passing area. Initiating a traffi c stop, it was observed the driver showed signs of impairment. She consented to the fi eld so- briety test and was found to be noticeably impaired. Okeson was arrested and charged with DUII and her vehicle was towed from the scene. At the Clatsop County jail she submitted to the chemical test and provided a breath sample of .09 blood alcohol content one hour af- ter arrest. She was released to jail staff and was issued viola- tion citations for no operators license and passing in a no passing zone with construction zone enhancements. 9:08 a.m. S.
