respond to a report of two dogs
running loose by the Chamber
of Commerce building. The
owner of the dogs said she
had just let them out to relieve
themselves; the dog park, quite
adjacent, was pointed out to
her.

Columbia: A minor was arrested
and charged with possession
of alcohol; there was a second
charge of failure to obey traffi c
laws.

Columbia: A minor was arrested
and charged with possession of

who set up a sleeping situation
for themselves behind the
library was warned of unlawful
lodging.

a store on its own was claimed
by its owner.

Pearl Harbor Day came
to Seaside with a remem-
brance of Spurgeon Keeth,
the county’s last survivor
of the Dec. 7, 1941 attack
on American ships in
the Pacifi c. Twelve ships
were sunk or beached and
nine suffered damage.
Almost 2,000 Navy per-
sonnel were killed in the
attack, with 109 Marines,
233 Army personnel and
48 civilians among the
casualties.
Keeth’s
daugh-
ter, Donna Barnett, and
great-granddaughter Tay-
ler Ford tossed the cer-
emonial wreath into the
Necanicum River in honor
of Keeth, who died on
Dec. 28, 2017.
Barnett and Ford were
escorted by Bud Thomp-
son and Steve Gibson
members of the American
Legion Post 99 executive
board. Gibson served as guest
speaker at the remembrance,
joined by speakers Deborah
Boone, Mayor Jay Barber,
Seaside Police Chief Dave

Wahanna: A dog that jumped
out the window of a car and was
roaming around was found and
reunited with its owner.
