OZ S 0 - 2 K 4 RIN D TA Dec. 5 Pearl Harbor Day came to Seaside with a remem- brance of Spurgeon Keeth, the county’s last survivor of the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on American ships in the Pacifi c. Twelve ships were sunk or beached and nine suffered damage. Almost 2,000 Navy per- sonnel were killed in the attack, with 109 Marines, 233 Army personnel and 48 civilians among the casualties. Keeth’s daugh- ter, Donna Barnett, and great-granddaughter Tay- ler Ford tossed the cer- emonial wreath into the Necanicum River in honor of Keeth, who died on Dec. 28, 2017. Barnett and Ford were escorted by Bud Thomp- son and Steve Gibson members of the American Legion Post 99 executive board.
