Girlfriend in background said he could move out. Officers were on priority call. When they responded, nobody answered the door, and there was a pile of belongings in the yard, indicating somebody was moving out. Jan. 8 6:22 a.m., 700 block South Wah- anna Road: Hospital staff reported patient under the influence driving away in her vehicle. Officers responded, and the vehicle was located. 8:08 a.m., 1200 block Avenue B: Reporting party concerned about her son who has not returned. 5:33 p.m., 800 block North Holladay Drive: Deceased person Jan. 9 8:16 a.m., Avenue W and Ocean Vista: Complaint of male subject sitting on bench drinking from plastic bag. Caller believed to be open container. Officer responded and warned. 6:17 p.m., Area of Eighth Avenue: Several callers reported hearing loud booms in the area. Officer checked and advised of fireworks being let off in the area. Jan. 10 3:51 p.m., 1500 block South Roosevelt Drive: Caller requested officer check business for possible camping in doorway. Though a lease has yet to be signed, district Executive Di- rector Jeff Hazen is negotiating to rent a storefront space in the Seaside Factory Outlet Center, along U.S. Highway 101. “If I can get the lease signed this month it would be safe to assume we’ll be open by March,” Hazen said. “It will basically just be a place where people get infor- mation on transportation in the area, including our sys- tem,” he said. “And we’ll be able to sell some bus tickets and bus passes out of there, and help people get to where they need to go.” The Sunset Empire Trans- portation District covers Clat- sop County, with bus routes on U.S. Highway 30, from Astoria to Longview, Wash., and along Highway 101, from Astoria to Manzanita. “We’re part of the North YARD DEBRIS DROP-OFF report of an alarm. Officer responded and retrieved item. 11:29 a.m., 1200 block South Jackson Street: 3-year-old locked in vehicle. Officer responded and child freed. 4:38 p.m., 10th Avenue and Prom: Anonymous person came in to Seaside Police Department to re- port suspicious activity by couple walking on the Prom. She didn’t believe they were intoxicated, because they weren’t laughing. Officer was able to locate couple based on location given. The couple was intoxicated, the male less so. The female half was safely in her hotel room. 4:50 p.m., 1100 block North Roos- evelt Drive: Caller reported intoxi- cated male came into business and threw money down on the floor and spoke to her. Due to his level of intoxication, she was not able to understand him. He picked up his money and left toward Safeway. Officer was in the area, but was unable to locate the subject. (no Scotch Broom) 7:50 p.m., U.S. Highway 26, milepost 19 westbound: Traffic complaint relayed from Oregon State Police regarding a driver on Highway 26 was unable to main- tain his lane or speed, and was braking for no reason. No other calls received. Officer will keep an eye out for the vehicle. Jan. 15 12:36 a.m., 300 block South Roos- evelt Drive: Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging. 12:37 p.m., 300 block South Holladay Drive: Person came to report that someone had stolen his cellphone out of his grocery bag of personal belongings, although he also stated he had not encountered anyone on the street where he was walking. On a hunch, dispatcher asked if he had checked his pockets, and he stated he had, while reaching in his pocket and pulling out his cell phone. Dispatcher and citizen shared a laugh, and citizen went on his way. 6:52 p.m., U.S. Highway 101 southbound and Del Rey: 911 caller reported person excessively speeding and passing unsafely, nearly causing a head-on collision. Due to the inclement weather, caller was not able to provide a detailed description of the car. Of- ficer responded to the area where it may have turned off, but was unable to locate the vehicle. Jan. 16 12:02 a.m., 1100 block North Roosevelt Drive: Subject(s) cited for unlawful lodging. 1:35 a.m., Whalers Point: Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging. 6:37 a.m., 200 block South Roos- evelt Drive: Subject(s) warned for unlawful lodging. 8:31 a.m., 400 block South Roosevelt Drive: Several callers reported male subject aggres- sively asking for money in the Safeway parking lot.
