Lewis purchased the entire stock of the Monarch grocery, taking over the interests of his for mer partners, 8. B. Evans and M. M. Roush. The Monarch is perhaps the largest grocery In the city, and car ries a stock in excess of 810,000. Mr. Lewis is one of the principal men who assisted in straightening out the affairs of the Monarch Mercantile company. He came here from Marys ville last September, and with others purchased the grocery stock of this firm, and has been managing the store since. It is his intention to close out all the aide lines now being handled, and devote his entire atten tion to an exclusive grocery stock. The Interior of the store will un dergo a complete change, and be greatly improved, and it is the Inten tion of Mr. Lewis to give Klamath Falls one of the meet modern and well stocked grocery store« In the state. The location of the store, on the comer of Main and Sixth streets. Is one of the moat desirable In tovm. Since coming to Klamath Falls Mr. Lewis, by his upright business methods, has won a host of friends, and his success in the venture la prac tically aaured. More new towns are being planted in Oregon and Washington just now than ever before. Some will grow and prosper, while others will ah rive I end die like corn planted in the Ari sons desert. Ellison, United States navy, officially repre sented the navy, and seemed almost as much pleased as did Mr. Curtiss at the success of the flight. The ocean on which Mr. Curtiss made hia first flight for naval officials in the hydro-aeroplane off San Diego.
