United Press Service. WASHINGTON. 1». C., Feb. 4.— The Ballinger-Piuchot investigating committee held a brief open meeting today, which was marked by bitter remarks of Attorney Braudels, rep resenting 1‘inchot. who unsparingly criticised delay of the Interior De partment in producing certain let ters, documents and reports, which he asked for a week ago. Secretary Semen read two letters, one from Senator Nelson, of Minnesota, sug gesting that Ballinger secure coun sel, so that no injustice will be done him, and a complete examination of all witnesses can be had. Hereto fore the main examination has been conducted tn the interest of Plnchot and his followers. The second letter was from Sec retary Ballinger, who requested the right to have counsel present. He stated that it was his desire that the committee should not be hampered, and that he had only determined to have counsel present when he saw that a full investigation was not be ing secured, and he further request ed that the hearing be postponed to enable him to secure counsel. His request was granted and the investi gating committee today adjourned until next Friday. NEW ORLEANS. Ln. Feb. Wash . F finding today of the body of Charles A. Cunstead the police of this cil y believe they.have on a murder mys tery that is one of the most baffling with which they have had to deal The police department is of th«' opin ion that Cunstead was siezed from the rear, garrott'd, dragged a block, robbed and then killed by thugs. His pockets were looted and everything pointed to robbery as the controlling motive of the guilty parties. To hide their crime and give the semblance of suicide, they attempted to pour car bolic acid down his throat, but life was already extinct and the acid re mained in his mouth, hortibly burn ing it and the lips. The police have a number of sus pects under surveillance, amt it is thought that arrests will be made during today or tomorrow. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ ♦ “Don't turn food-crank be- cause the things you Ilk«* Imvo risen In price. “Iton't boycott meat because «teaks are expensive.
