Political matters are receiving more
and more attention as time moves on.
and in a month or two we may expect
the interest in polities will be equal
to what the railroad excitement is
now. The republican state and coun
ty conventions have not been called
yet, but we hear they will probably
come off in April. The election in
Oregon in June will be tlie first state
election this year, and being thus at
the head of the column, it ought to
carry, as a good example to the states
which follow, tiie good flag of republi
can progression and prosperity. And
it undoubtedly will. The prosperity
which tiie country lias enjoyed under
the present republican ride will be
continued, and no one can reasonably
be so blinded to the true interests of
the country or his own interests as to
wish otherwise. Under tiie present
administration this country is moving
forward with giant strides towards
greatness, and there is no nation that
is more respected and honored or is
entitled to feel prouder than this.
