While recoveries were limited
to fractions in most eases, a
handful of favorites tacked on
point or so and a few special
ties were up as much as 3 on a
limited turnover. Closing gains
were at or near the best. Steels
revived at the last

Roosevelt's failure to mention
at his press conference the farm
loan measure now awaiting his
signature and a liberal move
ment of wheat to terminal mar
kets checked early rising ten
dencies of the wheat market to
day. Final prices were fractionally
below the previous close.
Early strength in the market
was attributed in part to firm
ness in oils and fats and to the
expectation that the parity farm
loan measure would soon be
come a law.
