As to the turkey situation this ear, tha leaflet shows that 7,989.000 pounds of turkeys were in cold storage In the United Htates on September 1 lat year, while on the same date this year the pounds of turkeys In storage was 12,314,000. It Is estimated that Oregon will market 700.000 pounds of turkeys this year, compared with K00.0UO last year. The pamphlet also ohows that it taken an a ve rug ft of 76 pounds of feed to produce a turkey ready for market at 29 weeks of age, and that It requires from four to live pounds of feed to produce a pound of gain, from hatching to maturity. Early gains are the cheapest, It Is pointed out. Other feeding pointers Indicate that feed costs can be reduced 10 to 20 per cent by using alfalfa, sunflowers, corn fields, etc., as pasture; that each bird needs six Inches of hopper space, and that It la best not lo give strong feeds, such as low-grade Huh meal or Inferior vitamin D fish-bearing oils, within the last six weeks be fore killing.
