Then beat vigorously 1 minute. Bake In three greased -lnch layer pans In moderate oven (37i degrees T.) 2S minutes, spread luscious lemon frosting between layers and on top of cake. Loscions Lemon Frosting One tablespoon grated orange rind. I tablespoons batter, S cape sifted confectioner's anger, 1 tablespoons lemon Juice. 1 table spoon water, dash of ealt. Add orange rind to batter; cream well. Add part ot sugar gradually, blending after each addition. Com bine lemon juice and water; add to creamed mixture, alternately with remaining sugar, nntll of right consistency to spread. Beat after each addition until smooth. Add salt. Cover top of cake. Quirk Spice Cake Two eupa sifted cake flour, I teaspoons baking powder, i tea spoon salt, i teaapoon etnnamon, I teaspoon nutmeg, 1 teaspoon cloves, I cap sugar, I tablespoons softened batter or other shorten ing, i cup molasses, i eggs well beaten, i cap milk. Sift floor onee, measure, add baking powder, salt, spices, and sugar, sift together three times. Add batter and mo lasses. Combine eggs and milk: add to flour mixture, atlrring nntll all floor la dampened; beat vigor ously 1 minute. Bake In two greased S-lnch layer pana In mod erate oven (375 degrees F.) 15 minutes, or nntll done. Spread Clever Judy Frosting on tops and sides of cake.
