Two years ago almost to the day Wiley Moore, a young ster pitching tor the Boston Red Sox, crossed up the New York Yankees, the heaviest hitting combination tn the bis leagues, and dropped them in to a shutout defeat. Since then - until Thursday the Yanks hare scored in erery Same. Scores tor a year and a day: K was a mark never equalled and not likely to- be beaten. e It was Robert Grove, ec centric southpaw ace for Con nie Mack's Philadelphia Ath letics, who snapped this bril liant scoring streak. He pulled the Yanks up to a halt after 101 consecutive games of scoring. Grore, a veteran and the leading barter In the Ameri can league tor tonr straight seasons, held down the New York world champions to fire hits. Hamaker completed his course at sum mer school and was graduat ed last month. Lea Avrit, head coach, had been counting on Hamaker's return to round out the offen sive. But Hamaker, eager to try bis luck in big time pier, will probably enroll at the University of Oregon. Hamaker had poor luck all last year and his absence from the lineup was responsible for more then one Pelicsn defeat. He broke his shoulder In the first game with Grants Psss and wss on the sidelines for the remainder ot the year. Two youngsters, Chester Jones and Chuck Holnten, however, ac quired sufficient experience In 1932 to promote them to reg ular posts for the season. Both won letters.
