Bandit Shot in

wounded a companion of th dead
bandit, and Long Beach police a

Brown, 40, at bis home on sus
picion of burglary. Brown, in a
critical condition, was beld in the

time was a third roan, Charles
Moe. who also was held for inves
tigation. Deputy sheriffs learned that
three bandits invaded Lord's
house while ho was entertaining
and lined the group up against,
the wall. Lord dashed for the
bedroom and secured a gun. He
started firing as be entered the
room, and two of the bandits fell.
In the exchange of shots. Lord
himself was instantly killed.
The third bandit carried his In
jured companion to a waiting
automobile while the guests went
to the aid of their hout.
