OFFICIAL PAPER FOR CITY OF KLAMATH FALLS "Let ui have faith that that faith let ut to the end understand it." Abraham FIND THE BEAST Klamath Falls Has Its Jung'.e Years since Judge famous story of infamy. He called it "The Beast in the Jungle." The beast proved to be the gang rule then infesting Denver. Is there such a b'jast that now has Klamath Falls by the throat? The tracks would so indicate. In Denver the tracks of the beast were everywhere, in the courts, schools and univer sities, and on up to the state government. Sel dom could the beast be seen in the open. Gang rule is not that kind of a beast. It bat tens first by mob appeal, this being, the first evidence of its presence. Its leadership is confined to those who can't think. Successful so far, the beast will venture farther from its lair. In Klamath Falls it has dared to hide behind the grand jury, and rumors are still heard of what was attempted. The beast may mistake its own power, often. It may sometimes fall into the belief of what it preaches to the unthinking. It may more insidiously cover its own tracks by attacking " the character of its enemies. There was an election in Klamath Falls which the grand jury might have spent some time in investigating. Certainly there were .. enough street, rumors-to -warrant a district at torney making a presentation of the case. Perhaps this election was investigated. But the grand jury was not permitted to spend all of its time on consideration of elections, the conduct of which has long been a joke in Klamath Falls. No, there was the track of the beast.. A prominent judge was known to have been taken before the grand jury. He had, it ap pears, aroused the enmity of the beast, a per sonal enmity.' " But, as will happen, the grand jury was composed of dependable citizens. The beast could not get very far. Still the beast is not through. Daily on the streets of Klamath Falls is heard the whisper of this jurist having been before the grand jury. Seme good hunters are needed in Klamath Falls. o- L When the Southern Pacific kicks back with all or part of the $300,000 for which the Falls is now bonded, and Eberlein commences paying his own taxes, then can the water users and the citizens of Klamath Falls get together and celebrate. o In New York a back-alley cat decided to move her family of five kittens across the street. She was so well known that Officer Cudmore stopped all traffic and motor cars while she carried the five kittens safely across. The world pauses sometimes when the Amer ican sense of kindness is appealed to. o Those who advocate kindness to all living creatures, and are praying and working in the great national education campaign against all forms of cruelty to animals, should remember the humane societies in making their wills.
