Every year during the month of.

Children are asked to help In this
campaign because they are the most
susceptible to tuberculosis. (Statis
tics show that the death rate from
this disease is higher between the;
ages of 10 and 40 than at other;
time.) Therefore In this way the;
opportunity is made to explain to :

Klamath connty is much more:
fortunate than many of the other
counties of the state, in that we
have here a full health unit, direct-!
ed by a full time health officer, and
also our public health association.
Klamath County Public Health,
association is a branch of the State
Tuberculosis association, and having,
such an association in our own
county, we are given a stated per
centage of the Christmas seal pro
ceeds to be spent in our own county
for health education, for materials
to prevent disease, and last, hut not
least, to help pay for corrections of
defects in those who are not able to
pay for their own.
The other portion of the Christ
mas seal money is sent to the state
association, who in turn send a
small percentage to the national as
sociation. This year the state tu
berculosis association Is paying the
salary ot the first public health
nurse to be had in Lake county, and
