Watson la a boy who ts also to furnish an exceptional go on the coming card. Just now U. Is "not settled who b In to meet except that It will be either Wilbur Har rington or Mike DePinto. DoPlnto will be remembered as the last IIU! Italian boxer who stood up gamely against Kid Starkey In the main event here a few weeks ago. This card too, will be what Is termed a double-head- liner, the two leading . bout between men who have shown .In the bead line events during most of their recent fights, For Harrington, It will be a chance to show what be has got. He aod Watson will be about the same weight or close on thereto, which will give the Chlloquln boy an op portunity to meet someone. little cleverer, but without having to give away weight. There are there too who pay Harrington the tribute to say that Watson has nothing on him In the way of cleverness unless experience has ' given him such. That, however, remains to be seen. when the bout comes off. One .other thing In which the rani will 1ie Interested ts that a change of referees Is to be effected for the next bout. Those who follow the boxing game alwaya like to see a referee changed after so many fights. There was also voiced some dlsat la faction with th former re fere'e doclslon on everl bouts, so that tbe management of Scandla Hall believed it was just as well to try some one else. CHRYSLER STOCK CAR GETS RECORD Ray Logan Drive Machine Over San Benito Road For Mile In .32 A Chrysler semi-stock car, owned and driven by Itay Logan, an em ploye of the Southern California Chrysler distributor, has captured the. world's record for a mile stralght-away for this type of car. Logan drove his Chrysler a meas ured mile In 22.2 second on Oc-1 tober 10 at Roger dry lake In San Bernardino county. This la at the rate of lll.S mile per hour. The former record made by Joe Nikrant In the same spot on April 17, 1923, was 108.24 miles per hour. The Chrysler run was made nnder the supervision of Los Angeles news paper men, who beld the stop watches, certified the distance, and sgroed that Chrysler bad set a new world' record for cars of this type. They were John Swallow, "Express," Hersbell Bluett, "Herald," Frank C. Johnson, "Examiner" awl R. J. Orewer, "Times." This record Is considered alt the more remarkable because Logan has never hod any experience with tbe fast ones. He Is only twenty-three years old. but had ambitions that point toward the speedway, and a fast Chrysler Is bis first step in that direction. Officials of the Chrysler organisa tion and Richfield Oil company were congratulate the young speed demon on his soccers. Logsn'a Chrysler ts a modified clock car. . The principal changes ! madn wero the substituting of a ' llghur flywheel, the shortening f the whcelbase to 100 inches, th Installation of an extra carburetor and the changing of the gear ratio from rtandard 4.8 to 1, to 3.28 to 1, and replacement of the standard body whh one of the racing type. However, the pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft and other parts of tbe motor were Identical with those upon to support th major dlau-lbV luting plana of th eastern factories, duo to tbe heavy winters In the cen tral and northern' part of tbe ooaa- try, which bold up baying interest.; Mr. Peed will review tbe results et the significant prleo change . fa the Overland Standard sedan, which.; a now being sold at the lowest price ever set on an enclosed car of stand ard pec1flcat1on. He will alio go Into the results obtalr.i through tbe Overland six and the Wlllrs-Knight oax. two new and major developments of Willys- that are In every Chrysler that goes ; 0c land during the past year. on the road, and Chrysler officials! Just preceding the trip now being feel that the supreme test that these ; made by Mr. Peed, came ' the ' an- motor units were given In carrying the Chrysler over the course at 111.8 miles per hoar proves con clusively the worth of the stock Chrysler. - MLYHVERLND CHIEF ON COAST L. G. Peed, general sales manager for the Willys-Overland, Inc., la now on bis annual Arip through the Pa cific coast territory, visiting the factory branches and distributor ships representing the huge organi zation, whose sales policies be di rect. His trip this year takes on more than the usual significance of a visit of this nature, owing to the tremendous gains, which, hare been mode in the sale of Overland and Wilrys-Knlgiv: motor cars during the past year. - . The winter months find tbe Pa-) nonncement from tbe factory that the Willys-Knight six, which bad previously been made In flve-pae-senger models only In th sedan type, is now being furnished In sv seven-passenger model. Distinctive features of the new seven-pssiiMiger; sedan are: Tire carrier on the left front side of the ear, fitting Into the, front fender, deep body dimensions, and a low swung chassis.
