fcSD&APER THE KLAMATH DAILY NEWS "Let ua have faith that right maJcea might, and in that faith let ua to the end dare to do our duty aa we understand It." Abraham Lincoln. Effective Concentration Unity and Clarity Cooperative Essentials Just recently delegates of various civic commercial organizations met and agreed upon a plan of advertising cities of southern Oregon by concerted community advertising. By all it was, and is. considered advantageous to impart knowledge to others of the advan tages and attractions which this section of the " state has to offer those seeking new habita tions. Not only does this scheme apply to the home builder and the business man, manufac turer and others, but also to the traveling public. With each year, according to statistics, the restless American spends his summer vaca tion days, seeing his own country, or as much of it as time will permit. The automobile has greatly facilitated this form of travel. And in the natural course of events this section of Oregon has fell the effect of the tourist in no small degree. Realizing growth of this travel, civic or ganizations began the work of exploitation along organized lines, and began taking up the question of just what was best to exploit for the benefit of this section of the state as a whole. As a result, attention was centered on Crater lake. Mention of this gave rise to a question voiced by the various communities concerned, as to whether or not concerted ac tion in this respect would rebound to their credit, or would any one community secure greatest benefits. ' Some sentiment has arisen against group ing all the community advertising around Crater lake as a central advertising feature. Careful thought, however, brings realization that in advertising attractions to tourists from far sections, there should be some big central attraction to offer people not intimately ac quainted with any one of the cities and their respective districts, concerned in the general plan. So far, centering of attention on Crater lake seems to indicate advantages with far reaching possibilities. That resort has already been widely advertised. People visiting there will undoubtedly spend some time in cities and districts surrounding it, if it should be their intent to sep new fields of endeavor. Crater lake, so to speak, would form a magnet to at tract, first, the stranger, and later form the means of giving him a knowledge of our other attractions wherein would come the work, or so it would seem, of the local community or ganizations to place before the visitor that which each has to offer. 1 1 u Aladdin Mere nun is iua.' : 81 V-" . 0 J a--C- L " i I , Whatever efficiency may be, it doesn't consist in using forty horsepower to take one man to work. Mrs. Blank was giving a parly on the afterdeck of her yacht. The affair was dragging dread fully. The guests had exhausted the weather as a topic of conver sation and acted as If they could find no other. It was distressing. The hostess was passing her mother-in-law, who was sitting beside the low rail, when sucl denly she stumbled and fell against the old lady, sending her overftoard. Of course she was rescued, but afterwards Mr. lilank took Mrs. Blank prlvntely to task alioul the matter. "How clumsy of you to knock mother Into the water like that," he aald. "Im afraid she won't care to visit us again In a hurry. You really should be more care ful." "Now, George," said M, Wank, "be reasonable. I had to do something: I simply had in.
