1 4f ft I : AN INDEPENDENT REPUBLICAN NEWSPAPER "Let u have faith that right make might, and in that faith let u to the end dare to do our duty at we understand it." Abraham Lincoln. THE KLAMATH DAILY NEWS The Season Opens 1 1 Heart . nd in - 1 " t-. , KLAMATH FALLS,, ORff THURSDAY. OCTOBER Sign ilu Petition Privilege and Duty of I'.vjry Responsible Resident It's the privilege and duty of every res ponsible resident of Klamath Falls to get be hind the farmers and shippers of Merrill and other districts in their request to the Interstate Commerce Commission that the government body take promptly the action necessary to insure the Southern Pacific's railroad dev , elopment program. Petitions. to the Interstate Commerce Commission indorsing the request of farmers and shippers are being circulated and are being signed by all of importance in Klam ath's business world. Ycu sign one. Get the fellow next door to do the same. Ask your neighbors to sign. You're all in the same boat. : THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC PRO GRAM IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAR RIES WITH IT CERTAIN, SUBSTAN TIAL AND PERMANENT BENEFIT FOR KLAMATH FALLS. The Southern Pacific plans are vastly more important to Klamath Falls than to the Southern Pacific. The railroad can wait, but Klamath County rdon't, want- them to. THE RAILROAD CAN INVEST ITS $38,000,000 ELSEWHERE. We who have invested our capital, our work and our lives in one big bet on Klamath Falls' future can neither recall our bet nor wait too long to collect. Those that can and are willing to make a living by standing in the way of their own community's prosperity are few, thank God, and far between. The time for talking is past. The far mers and shippers have acted. Let's do the same. Let's forget the windbags and the cri tics and the promisers and help Klamath Falls by getting behind the builders. Sign the petition.' It'll help the farmers and ship pers. It'll help Klamath Falls. It'll help you! The Passing of "George" Dining Car Waiters Not All Named "George' No longer will the railroad traveler who blithely as sumes personal acquaintance with the dining car waiters be able to get by with their traditional "George" greet ing, with which they have sought to impress more con servative or timid tourists.
