'Klamath Falls is fr.'.ing an epochal era there f.1-3 r.'.ore eyes on Klamath Falls and Klamath county at the present time than perhaps on any other section of the vr-t. V.'ith the talked-of railroad develop ment; with the building activi ties; with the industrial op portunities fast being exploit ed, and the many other de velopments contiguous, Klam ath is indeed receiving much comment and notice. This era of prosperity is the! inevitable result of develop-1 ment of the rich natural re-j sourcqs which our city and county command and has come about even in spite of inspired obstacles, placed in the vay by obstructionists and alarmists, whose sole aim ap pears to be to rule or ruin. It behooves every citizen voter in second ward or not to lend every influence toward ' electing as alderman in the I second ward a man who is big enough, broad enough and , sane enough to sit with the' aldermen from the other four wards and do his duty fear lessly and without favor, just as his constituents are lending every effort to do, so that Klamath Falls will not only be noticed, but noticed favorably by the outside world, and act ed upon favorably, as well. We must make Klamath synonymous with progressive action, and accelerate that progress by harmonious co operation in our city govern ing body. seere'sry cf tile ra trior. "We lived In the S-5 for 37 hours," ho said Monday, "but that was larpely because the ship wasn't injured in a collision, ux was the S-61." There Is little parallel between the two disasters, according to Cooko. "Wo sank because of an open valve, while submerging." he said. "Our, hull was uninjured, nnd al IhotiRh water was pouring In we were able to raise the stern above the water and kt-rn n compartment water tlcht. We suffered little nfter our predicument became known." Cooko feels thnt water entered the 8-C1 jtoo nulckly for the men to sepk ahelter In a segregated com partment. He declared thnt lark of any response when divers tapped on the hull was a Hlrnng Indication that the men were dead. I At present Cooke Is stationed at' the Mure Inland navy yard hero.
